Crash upon startup
Version: The latest - I downloaded this week, so I'm assuming the latest patch is included
PC/MAC: PC What were you doing? I tried to load the game What happened? It immediately fails and gives me the "ootp10.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." box. I've tried attaching it to this message, but I'm not sure if it will work. Reproducible? Yes Problem occurs with other leagues? N/A I'm running Windows XP SP3, with 4GB of RAM on a Dell laptop with an Intel Core2 Duo CPU T9550 running at 2.66GHz

Uninstall and reinstall. If that does not work, uninstall and reinstall on a separate drive. C drive is default but try installing on D or E if you have those partitions.
Sounds to me like you may have had a power outage or battery going dead while the game was open on Vista. I've seen this happen to others.

This has happened on two separate laptops, running XP. No power loss and no disk issues. I wonder if there is a software conflict causing this. What would you need to identify that?

Version: 1st version released, the day it was released

N/A I'm running Windows XP SP3, with 2GB of RAM running at 2.66GHz Wow, surprised to find this exact same problem in a new thread. I haven't played the game for the last 30 days... last night clicked to start the game and received the above message. Game never starts, as soon as you double click the icon it goes straight to the error message. The game had worked perfectly fine since installed months ago until last night! So, uninstalled - reinstalled 3 times... same error each time. (C Drive) Installed on D AND E partition 1 time each and received same error message there as well. Have no idea why all of sudden this happened. The only thing I've done with this computer since the last time I opened the game was to update Java for the What If Sports website... really do not see how that would make a difference. Anyone have any idea what might be going on here? |

Sounds like something is not initializing right. There is should be an option in the OOTP X part under the Start menu to 'start OOTP X in trace mode'. Try doing that. It will create a txt file in the OOTP X folder called 'ootp'. Post the contents of that and see if that clues us in to what it could be.
Could be a conflict or a driver problem. I've heard of facegen giving people problems before. |

I agree with TribeFan here. The specific instructions for enabling Trace Mode are here.
