How are logos created?

What program do you all use to create them?

When a man and a woman love each other very much...

But seriously though. Lots of ways. Some people use Paint.net or GIMP or an old version of Paint Shop Pro. I'm using Photoshop CS4 and I know others do that too. Those are some examples.

Another option, rather than a raster-based program such as Photoshop, are vector-based programs such as Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW. Being vector-based, that means there are no issues scaling the logo to different sizes. They also have a different 'look' than logos created in a raster-based program.

I personally used CorelDRAW to create logos.

Sadly, I haven't done any logo stuff in a long time... I should really start up again...

LGO brings up a good point. When I want to draw an original logo, I use vector-based programs. I personally use Inkscape, because it's free. Some original logos I've done:
