Perfect Game!... and a question

First one I've seen in OOTPB. By the AI, not me.

Also, why wouldn't a perfect game = 100 for game score? He only got a 95.

formulas

"Game score is a metric devised by Bill James to show how dominating a pitcher was in any particular game. To determine a starting pitcher's game score: (1) Start with 50 points. (2) Add 1 point for each out recorded, so 3 points for every complete inning pitched. (3) Add 2 points for each inning completed after the 4th. (4) Add 1 point for each strikeout. (5) Subtract 2 points for each hit allowed. (6) Subtract 4 points for each earned run allowed. (7) Subtract 2 points for each unearned run allowed. (8) Subtract 1 point for each walk. The top game score in the history of baseball was Kerry Wood's one-hit, no walk, 20 strikeout performance against the Astros on May 6, 1998. His game score was 105"

The scoring system takes the team the perfect game was thrown against into consideration. Since it was the Pirates.......

Just kidding

I'm not sure there is such a thing. At least not in the same way as there is for pitchers.

Its in the game (you can see it when checking the top game performance list, it gives a gamer score to the batters).

Well I'm not sure then, I've never seen it for batters in real life.

I would be interested in knowing how the game calculates this myself. I haven't been able to find anything on the web about batter game scores (it appears most calculations like this are done the season only).

Then any pitcher facing the Arizona Diamondbacks right now should immediately have all of their scores reduced in half.

13 K's in a perfect game makes the game score 100.

There's a Mets site I frequent (Amazing Avenue — Applesauce) that gives ratings for selected pitchers and hitters after each game. These may not be the same numbers the game uses.

Apparently each play gets a rating, and a player's rating for the game is equal to the total of all their play ratings in that game. Usually they post a list of the highest rated Mets' hitter and pitcher, lowest rated player (sometimes both hitter and pitcher), best play, worst play, and who (on either team) had the game winning rbi.

BB-Ref uses the Batting Game Score as noted below.

Quote:
Batting Game Score - This is a value also created by Bill James, but not nearly as widely known. I've modified it. My goal is to identify the heroes and anti-heroes from each day and highlight them, so feel free to quibble with the weighting.

Start with 0 points. Add 40 points for a cycle, 30 for a 3-HR game and 10 for a 2-HR game. Add 1 point for each run, RBI, 2B, SB, BB, and HBP recorded. Add 2.5 for each hit, 3 for each 3B and 4 for each HR. Subtract 1 for each CS and GIDP, subtract 2 for each error, 0.2 for each SO and 0.5 for each AB. I should have LOB's in here somewhere, but I don't track that in my player gamelogs since no known can agree on a definition.

As long as it doesn't use earned/unearned runs.
