FA Compensation - Good/Bad thing?
Accidently posted this in the OOTP 10 thread but....
I am contemplating starting a league but have some issues with FA compensation. I would like some opinions on it. It seems to work well in larger leagues (25+) but I am in a league right now where there are 16 teams and we have something like 48 sandwich picks. These picks have created a weird effect - by the time the second round comes along, the team selecting with the #1 2nd round pick is left with a bunch of 1 star players. In addition, there's a good 10+ Type A's out on the free agent market and we're past opening day. Are there draft pool settings that can counterbalance this? With a smaller league I am starting to believe we'd be better without it sometimes. |

I have not seen a counterbalance but you can disable FA compensation. I have a small (8-team) solo fictional league and have also questioned FA compensation's value for the reasons you mentioned. Right now, I have it on and readily go for Type As since giving up a 2-star player doesn't hurt that much.

You can create more players so that it is a little deeper.
Overall I think the system has value. Though I have been in league with the problem you describe and it does devalue the draft. |
