Problem with historical league
I know that this is hardly distant history, but I want to play a game where I take over the Nats after the relocate from Montreal.
I made a new historical game, using most of the pre-set settings since I want to be realistic into the future. When I started playing, I found that all the staff was incorrect (really only care about the managers), there were no free agents available to sign, the schedule was not accurate and the amateur draft was scheduled for after the season (the rookies in the draft were also not from real life). What did I do to make everything so horribly wrong and how do I fix it? Please know that I have only been playing this game for about a month. Thanks. |

schedule will never be accurate unless u import 1 into the game , which i cant help ya with, but many people in the schedules forum can. go into commish mode and under League Options - League setup - Historical, make sure to import historical rookies. if u want to have accurate owners/mgrs ya gonna have to google each team for that yr or go to baseball ref for it. and like i said u should be able to import the 2005 schedule, either if ya can find it in the Schedules forum or just create it in game (must be in offseason or preseason) Edit: u sure your schedule isnt right? i just created teh league and checking the schedule for the 1st month it matches up with the 1 from baseball almanac 2005 Washington Nationals Schedule by Baseball Almanac |

Is it checked off where it says "balanced" for the schedule, which means the schedules will never be right because today's schedules are unbalanced.
The rookies in the amateur (first-year) draft pool will the players that made their MLB debut in the following season (in your case they will be from 2006), and would certainly not be the RL players drafted. For statistical accuracy, you should hold the draft of the incoming players at the end of the season, otherwise, they will be coming in a 1/2 season too early and will throw the stats modifiers out of whack. There also wouldn't be any free agents available because when you first start the league, it would have the opening day rosters for the teams and not what they were on January 1, 2005.

The game should be importing the following schedule from your schedule file:
major_league_ml_c_2005.lsdl Don't worry about the lsdl part. It's just a fancy pants term for the fancy pants file that is used as your schedule. Example below, with apologies in advance for my horrible Paint "skills". Everything is the same, except the year in my example is 1904, the auto adjust schedule if xml file is found box should be checked, there are 162 games instead of 154, the use balanced schedule box should be unchecked (unbalanced schedule), and the interleague play box should be checked. Also, there will obviously be two more playoff rounds than 1904 had. If it's still not working, jump from the options page (the one that this wonderful piece of art comes from) to the functions page in your game setup and click on edit league schedule. It takes you to a page with a bar in the bottom right corner labelled "Schedule...", just above the "Finish Today" bar. Click on it. A menu will pop up. Click on "Import from File" on that menu. Make sure that the screen that pops up is in your schedules folder. If it's not, manoeuver your way into the schedules folder and scroll down until you reach the exact schedule I showed you above. Click on it and click OK to re-import the 2005 schedule. If that ain't right, I suppose we could sacrifice a live chicken and see if that works.

Goats generally work better than chickens for scheduling.
