A simple Commish question

Hi, I'm a longtime player but new commish.

I've started a new league and everything is up and working fine, I'm just not sure how to proceed with regard to making my changes and importing my gm's files. Do I make my changes to my lineup and stuff before I import their team files, or after or does it matter. I've created a commish only persona as well as a non commish GM that I use for my team changes. I don't export to the server from my GM persona, do I?

I think I'm overthinking this, but appreciate all the help.
