online play
How easy is it to find online leagues to compete in that actually have participants that stay in for the whole season and don't rage quit in games cuz they are losing ? I am so sick of seeing all the problems with console baseball games. I want to capture the experience I have gotten from playing baseball sims over the years but want to be able to share it with others who enjoy these games and not have to worry about all sorts of technical difficulties and ignorant or cry baby people who rage quit.
If I chose to run a league how easy is it to setup ? Is it pretty much auto pilot and the software does most if not all itself or not ? |

well play2win has been running for like 4 seasons we are ootp 12 league that most likely will goto 13 after a few patches .
our gms dont quit if they lose . we had a few gms in the past i was gonna boot because they were bad for the league but they quit but we are doing very well . some gms had to quit cuz there wives and deployments and stuff like that . but non quit cuz they lost . and we have some opens that just opened up for non activity if ur interested check my post in the online league section of 12 or pm me . setting up online leagues was easy for me but i know computers and all . the video for creating a online league is pretty good . u have to setup ur sql's on ur server and setup folders to house ur league file and reports on the server . and create an ftp account to use in the game and in game u have to enable online mode and input ur ftp info and folder paths on the server and web address to the folders and ur email info to send in game sim emails . theres a good amount of stuff that u have to do but its pretty easy .

I would recommend joining a league first. I think it would be too much of a task to serve as commissioner when you're new to OOTP.
Generally it's not that complicated to administer an online league as commissioner, but sometimes you're going to need to do a lot of additional work to keep your league running smoothly and to sort out any issues with GMs. So I'd try an online league as a GM first. There seems to be no shortage of leagues available, but many of them do not convert to new versions of the game until they are completely stable and have been patched. There can also be conversion issues for existing leagues, so they hesitate to make a change until they know for sure that they can convert successfully. So I don't know how much luck you would have in finding a new OOTP 13 league. I'm sure there will be some new ones cropping up, and there is a forum for that, but the risk there is that it's not an established league and the initial GM's could be fickle. If a veteran commish starts a new league, though, then it might attract solid GM's that have worked with that person previously. |
