Possible to set up a league like this?

For context, my first version played is 2008, and I've been happily playing that until I come here and see just how overjoyed everyone seems with 2013. I wanted to get through 100 seasons, but you guys and your high praise are tempting me to give up on my existing league.

Anyway, here's what I'd like to do, and if this game can do it, I may have to pull the trigger and get 2013 now.

I'd like to freeze the existing make-up of the MLB as it is today (with divisional set-up, financial settings, and league totals), but then take that and go back to 1909. I'd like to then sim from then through maybe 2020 or so (so everyone is brand new to me), and then start managing the Cubs.

Here's why: I want everyone in the game to be on a purely equal footing (using the OOTP game mechanic, with same number of teams, same financials, league totals, etc), and then have history unfold and see how the greats of the past compare to the greats of today, versus the future greats I'll manage.

Obviously the challenge is with more teams now, how does the game handle the "missing' players, as well as any number of other issues I haven't thought about yet.

Anyway, sorry if this is a stupid question, but is this possible and relatively easy to do? I'm not asking for anyone to give me a step-by-step how to, by the way, just more of a "yes, the game can do that easily" or "well, it could but it would take a lot of work".

I'd love to try something like this, and with the other bells and whistles this version seems to have, I'm tempted to just get it anyway and go with the MLB Quickstart.

Thanks in advance!

This may not answer all your questions, but judging from what you wish to accomplish, this will probably be a good read for you. It's on the OOTP12 Forum.
