Cincinnati Reds Dynasty

Photobucket

This thread will follow my dynasty as the Cincinnati Reds. The dynasty will begin at the beginning of the 1999 season. Why 1999? Well the '99 Reds team is probably my favorite Reds team of all time. Its the first time since I was old enough that the Reds had a competitive season. And although Al Lieter shut them down in the 1 game playoff eliminating the Reds from any post season I absolutely fell in love with the Reds and their players that season. Their bullpen was one of the deepest pens in the modern era. Too bad their starting rotation was horrid. The team also had some great characters such as "The Mayor" Sean Casey, Pokey Reese, and Dmitri Young.

My hope is to go back and change history. Taking the Reds to the playoffs in '99 and turning the franchise around. You may also notice I have another dynasty going (FIBA solo). I hope to balance my urge for fictional and real life OOTP solo leagues between that one and this one.

Pre-season:
*I will be limiting myself to 2 trades per offseason, 1 free agent of 3+ stars, and 1 trade deadline day deal per season.
LF-Greg Vaughn to NYY for RF-Paul O'Neil
In a shocking move the Cincinnati Reds traded away recently aquired LF-Greg Vaughn before he even got a chance to suite up for the club. Cincinnati reached an agreement with the New York Yankees that brings RF-Paul O'Neil back to Cincinnati. Both players are int he final year of their contract.

SP-Steve Parris, CF-Jeffrey Hammonds, RF-Mark Sweeney, and C-Jason LaRue to TEX for SP-Aaron Sele.
Cincinnati traded away a lot of their strength (depth) but GM Mike Mantia felt the club needed an upgrade in the starting rotation. "This club will only go as far as it's starting pitching will take it."

Projected Every Day Starting Lineup:
1.SS-Barry Larkin
2.RF-Paul O'Neil
3.1B-Sean Casey
4.C-Eddie Taubensee
5.LF-Dmitri Young
6.3B-Aaron Boone
7.CF-Mike Cameron/Michael Tucker
8.2B-Pokey Reese

Starting Rotation:
1. Denny Neagle
2. Aaron Sele
3. Pete Harnisch
4. Ron Villone
5. Brett Tomko

Bullpen:
Will be made up of closer by committee depending on game situation.
RHP- Danny Graves
RHP-Scott Williamson
RHP- Scott Sullivan
LHP- Gabe White
RHP-Stan Belinda
LHP- Dennis Reyes
RHP- John Hudek

Dmitrious The Ball Hitter

Through the first nine games the Cincinnati Reds are 5-4. Nothing to be jumping up and down about but Dmitri Young is HOT. The Reds' leftfielder is mashin, currently hitting .486 6HRs 14RBIs and an OPS of 1.639! "I go to the plate like its a plate at a dinner table. I'm looking to mash and I love mash patatoes!" said Young after asked about his early success.
Dmitri isn't the on Red that is Red hot. 2B-Pokey Reese has been clutch, already racking up 16 RBIs! (currently tied with STL's Ray Lankford for the MLB lead)

The Reds starting rotation needs to get at the same dinner table as Dmitri. Cincinnati starters have been horrid. Only Aaron Sele has been worth his pay check posting 2 wins in 2 starts backed with a 1.46 ERA. The addition of Sele in the offseason is looking huge at the moment. The rest of Cincinnati's starters ERA looks like this: Denny Neagle 7.16, Pete Harnisch 5.73, Ron Villone 18.00, and Brett Tomko 9.00. Early on the Reds bullpen was carrying the starters on their back but have been worked tiredlessly recently and its taking a toll.

If the Reds wish to play post-season baseball the Cincinnati pitchers better turn it around.
