Flags
I'm sure I'm missing something, but I'm having a very frustrating problem. I started a new universe and I downloaded Chris Conn's fictional stiffs. They come with several new nations, but I can't get the flags to show up.
Chris' original files are no longer available, but I've gotten PNG files of the flags that are 20x30 and put them in the images/flags folder. Nothing is happening, though. I'm guessing there's something going on with the DAT files, but I don't know what. |

The flags have to be 30x20 and the name format has to be flag_NationName.
Also, the nation itself has to exist in the universe. Click the button marked "Nations" in your uni and you can add any that you need. |

In Documents/OOTP/TBCB 2.5/Images/Flags, the first two files are flag_Afghanistan, a 30x20 PNG file and flag_Alabama, a 30x20 PNG file.
The fighters from Afghanistan have flags showing up. The fighters from Alabama don't. Both nations are in the universe. I know with Ring Card Girls, I had to copy the DAT files from one universe to another to get them to show up, but that doesn't seem to work for Nations. Chris had his DAT files zipped up, but that download site no longer works. |

The flags you make have worked, so is there something other than 30x20 that they need?

I'm still guessing that it's a problem with the nations. They may have to be in the default nations to pick up the flag or something.

Thanks. I'll experiment with that.

The flags at this GitHub repository work out of the box. Download the mini (PNG) flags into your image/flags directory and you are good to go. He's got every country and state/province flags for a lot of countries.
https://github.com/oxguy3/flags (The only minor issue is the repository is from 2015, so it has the old flags for Minnesota, Mississippi, New York and Utah. You can't tell the difference with the New York flag.) |
