Charlie Gage - Fictional Version
In real life, there was a good all-round athlete out of the University of Toronto named Charlie Gage. As part of the Varsity Blues rugby football team he helped win the Grey Cup in 1909. A rugged specimen, he excelled in contact sports, especially boxing, at one point winning the provincial and later national amateur heavyweight championships. He was so formidable that some schools refused to compete against him and actually blocked him from entering the national tournament claiming he was no longer an amateur as he had accepted money to play baseball. After university he played a bit of semi-pro football before enlisting in the Canadian army in 1914 to fight in France.
I've created a fighter for my game and made him a top notch boxer-puncher who has so far captured the Canadian championship and is preparing to meet his next big challenge in Australia's Ern Waddy. My version is an Overall 9 but that's just me. Cap
