Laptop limitations

There are so many options for affordable laptops that I was just curious about going too cheaply and being limited in running OOTP.

Would love to know what laptop you are playing with and if you've hit some that just won't work such as i-3 or i-5 generation PCs or those which have built-in video and not video cards.

Maybe another way to ask is if you've got a laptop that would NOT run OOTP.

I ran OOTP on a Dell Latitude D530 for two years and it was "acceptable". Nice hardware in 2008... Intel Core 2 with 1 GB of RAM. Of course, most disposable cell phones are more powerful nowadays.

I've got something better now, and I do appreciate the improvement

If the laptop was built in the last 6 years then it should run OOTP
It is not exactly a demanding game

Should note my previous laptop was a vista and the game worked great on it too.... I just do not like the annoying aspect of win 8

That's my current puter, but no SSD as it's unneeded for Linux OS's. Since I run LMDE 64 bit, I run OOTP on a VmWare Virtual machine, running it on XP, inside of Linux. It actually works out better than a pure Linux install, mainly because you can put the virtual machine in full screen mode, yet retain the ability to easily minimize it, and go back to your original operating system in an instant. There's one other great reason to play it on a VM, but I'll refrain from telling.

Not really.

I've been running Windows 8 since its release without any problems whatsoever.

I don't have a touchscreen either but, have no problems navigating the OS via touchpad.

My laptop specs:
Dell System XPS L702X
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM
CPU @ 2.20GHz
RAM 8.00 GB
VideoCard: GeForce GT 555M 3.0GB
1TB HD

17" Monitor/Screen

The only limitation that I've noticed, is that optimum resolution on my laptop is 1366x768, which still leaves portions of the screen cut off. I miss my old desktop with it's high def 1920x1120 display.

I run it on a netbook with no problems. It's just a little slow loading...playing a game it's fine though. And like others have said part of things o the screen are cut off. But plays just fine.

Oh BTW with my 17" the entire game screen is visible. Nothing cut off.

Like a few posters here, the screen resolution is the only real issue I am having. Using a Sony Ultrabook (windows 8 w/touchscreen) and the game runs great.

You can get resolution to fit scream by going to the setup button on main screen when you first pull up game .... believe me it works and it does offer many resolution settings

I was able to play just fine on my 1st Gen 11" MacBook Air (Late 2010, 1.6GHz, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD).

Full screen too.

I assume SSDs are not needed for Windows either (I wouldn't know, I don't use Windows), but I am definitely never going back to a spinning hard disk on my Linux Desktop and Laptop. SSDs rule!
