Awards Suggestion

I've noticed that the game fills in "Most Valuable Player" and "Cy Young Award" in certain places even though you haven't used that for your award name. Also it uses GG and AS and MVP award as abbreviations when in the HOF page. There should be a place where you can assign these abbreviations (and even determine what weight they are also given to the HOF selection) as well as making sure that the names given to the awards are used across the board as the language.

I'd like to see a "Player of the Year" award which would be distinct from MVP. Didn't a young Alex Rodriguez with Texas win the MVP in a year when Texas was flat out terrible? A great year statistically but made absolutely no difference in how Texas fared that year.

Nice idea but probably not practical.

I hate the fact that Justin Verlander, 2 Sp from my fictional team and Babe Ruth have all won Batter Of the Year despite the fact i have it Labeled as MVP. I want to see some pitchers win MVP and not have it listed as Batter of the year under Manual awards or uuder news.

I just finished a season ('86) where Don Mattingly took the Triple Crown (.364/47/160) and the league news mentioned the TC. If not already in the game (12,13,14) contract bonuses for HR title, RBI champ, TC and MVP would be cool. But you're absolutely right.

Or even take a page out of history from the Black Sox. Put in a reachable contract bonus (like 20 wins), then see how the player reacts when you hold him out to prevent the 20th win.

for an aspect of the game that is actually pretty important it's been 14 versions where it just feels tacked on.

Awards needs a major shakeup and this suggestion is only the beginning. I hope the ootp team can finally see the importance of this and give it the time it desperately needs.
