Love the details of this game

Mike Morse missed extended time in my first season for shooting himself while cleaning his gun and Eric Young Jr. missed a couple of weeks for me because his wife injured him throwing a frying pan at him LOL Good stuff.

It's funny you say this because some folks do not like the influence on the game of such off-field happenings. I'm with you but I remember some debates here about their over-reaching effects. Actually, this discussion involved the previous version and those effects have been toned down now, AFAIK. Still, it's good to know that the Storylines feature, which these are, is optional.

Well, to be fair, wasn't that mainly because of one event that massively wrecked the fan base because of a ponzi scheme or something and basically made the team's situation untenable?

It wasn't and isn't just that.

I shall say no more.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Yeah, I wasn't attempting to bag on the feature. I actually use it, and others don't. Different strokes for different folks, and its editable.

The Ponzi scenario would blow as that could wreck your entire franchise. I do love these side stories. Entertaining and realistic.

A lot of the storylines - very possibly the majority of them - are based on real life. The story about a player injuring himself cleaning his gun is based on what happened to Bryce Brentz this past offseason, for example.

Some of the off-field injuries (now storylines) in OOTP always seemed ridiculous to me - like the one about a player being bitten by a coyote. Then I found out that exact thing happened to Nolan Ryan. The storylines that seem most 'out there' are usually the ones that come from real baseball.

no, no that was done by the Wilpon family. in fact the Ponzi thing almost saved the franchise when it looked like they would have to sell. of course they did not so they are still there to run it into the ground.

I find it funny that a pitcher would risk his arm by bowling in the first place.

I know John Burkett was a very good bowler.

That same Tiger pitcher also injured himself playing Guitar Hero.
