502 Bad Gateway Is Way Out Of Hand

In the past couple of days, about half the time I click on a thread link, I get that stupid 502 Bad Gateway page. It is definitely killing the joy of coming to the forum. I PM'ed the moderator and no reply.

Does anyone know what the deal is with that?

It's a known issue:

I just thought it was getting out of hand.

no problem here. Awhile back for 3-4 weeks everytime i clicked the 1st link in my yahoo email for the forums i would be redirected to some odd site that would have a virus message attached to it. It is in GD somewhere. Let a MOD know, if they havent seen this thread already. i go to Conn Chris just because i have no clue who mods GD.

When using firefox the 502 messages have been intolerable for me the last few weeks. So I use Chrome for the OOTP forums now and have no issues. Sure would be nice to get this sorted out on all browsers though.

That's funny because I have the reverse problem: it happens on Chrome, I get relief on Firefox.

using firefox with noscript and no issues here. A week or so ago the board came up slow or not at all for the better part of a day. No issues since.

Me too, concerning Firefox (don't know what noscript is). OP, tried clearing your browser cache?

I get this every once in a while. Not sure what the cause is, but it's very easily rectified by deleting all cookies from the forums (just search for "ootp" in your list of cookies and delete all hits).

You'll have to log yourself back in, but after that it should work fine.

I've been getting the same message for several months. Way back when, I took a screen shot of the message and sent it to a moderator and he said he would let the "higher ups" be aware of it. I even sent a message to the webmaster however, I was blown off, just like the support tickets I have sent in, in the past.

Lucky for me, I only receive the bad gateway message every time I log out.

This might just be the answer. It seems to have worked.

A day later, I am still experiencing no problems after deleting all cookies from ootpdevelopments.com. Thanks for the fix, Fyrestorm3.

For what it's worth, I'm using an older version of Firefox. I set it to delete all my cookies every time I close the browser. I've never seen the 502 message. I don't usually bother logging in to the forum unless I want to make a post. It's pretty easy to tell by the dates when there are new messages up to check out, so logging in isn't a big deal to me. As Firefox stores log-in info, it's a pretty painless process when I do bother with it.
