Editing The World Default.XML For A New League - Help

I want to create the Confederate States of America. All I want to do is take existing states and put them into the CSA. I know I will have to create a nation of the CSA but would I have to delete the states from the USA and then re do them into the CSA? or can I just rename the proper fields for the CSA?
Whats the easiest way to do this?
I read Drieforts thread but i am clueless.

Easiest way would be to have a separate XML file for your CSA. Backup and copy your existing one, and then edit the copy down to one continent (North America) and then one nation (USA). Then delete all of the non-CSA states and rename the USA to the CSA.

If you do that and it works, please upload a copy to OOTP mods, because other people might want to try it.

I still want all nations and I want USA & CSA. It is a North vs South league had the CSA and USA called for a peace treaty, no winner, no loser in the Civil War.

Create a new nation then, and move the states you want to.

Oh, and a quick point. Nobody ever wins a war; one side just loses less than the other.
