Expecting different stats

Hello, just started with OOTP 15, but have a question. I decided on starting 1899 drafting real players from all over baseball history. I expected that using 1899 as a start date I would get 1899 stats...low HRs, high SBs. lots of starting pitching. I simmed my way through spring training and selected the season prediction and was surprised to see guys expected to hit 50 + HRs. What did I do wrong in my initial setup if I wanted stats of the year being played?

OK...The predictions with "skewed" stats was done when I chose that option myself. When the league made the predictions a few days later the stats seemed normal. Now I know!
