Manager Personalities
Im hoping for a reason to finally fire my manager mid season....seemed before that I never did. With the new personality and focus....maybe I can dump some crazy old guy and bring in a stabilizing personality to balance an unhappy clubhouse.

I'm stoked for this. With the new slogan being what it is and me being a GM only guy I hope this is really well done not just with personalities but with the play styles as well since we cannot change them in gm mode in 16.

Why would you have a crazy old guy managing the team in the first place? Are you a Dusty Baker fan?

Amusement, I'd assume. Or you could be like the owner from Major League, trying to intentionally tank the team.

Crazy old guy describes half of the managers in MLB history. Leyland, Durocher, Trader Jack, Sparky, Earl, Billy Martin, Senile (Sweet) Lou, etc.

This is a really cool feature, I hope it lives up to the hype. Right now I play out all my games. I think I want to try out the GM only mode, and sit in on the game and let the AI (manager) play out the games. See what kind of team I can assemble and how the skipper handles it!

More like five percent. And half of the guys on your list weren't crazy old guys, they were just guys who were smart and only crazy in the sense that a fox is.

lineup selection?
Currently there is general option for lineup selection traditional/sabermetric. Could this be expanded to have third option depends on manager. So basicly managers would have this trait. Oldschool guys with traditional, statheads sabermetric etc.

When managers set their lineups, they will set them according to their style. So an old school manager will build a traditional lineup, and a sabermetric one will tend to build one that's more "by The Book."

I like this, so you will have a Joe Maddon type with his spreadsheets and on the old hand a Billy Martin who just throws a pitcher out because he had a good run, nice!

Not really manager but will scouts have personalities and will the players they rate high and suggest to draft be based on their preferences?
Right now a lot of people feel that scout recommendations are based on player's actual ratings. |

Yeah I agree but there have been multiple threads about this last year. Which means that if scouts ratings (and other factors) do have an effect on scout's recommendations than its not that noticeable. The AI usually always select the player your scout recommend if you pass on them. Last edited by SirMichaelJordan; 01-24-2015 at 11:25 AM. |

With staff being revamp I wonder if players to coaches have been revamp as well. Players to coaches seem random and would often coach the opposite position that they actually played at. Pitchers usually become hitting coaches and position players become pitching coaches. I always thought this was bugged though.
I think position players should have a higher chance at being a hitting coach Pitchers higher chance at pitching coach Catchers higher chance at manager or bench coach. And will coaches have a preference on what leagues or nation they will want to work in? Japan would often be invaded with American coaches when I did my sims last year. Are basically ALL coaches former players? Because that is how it should work. In real life, there is basically no such thing as coaches/managers that never played pro baseball. A few might have only played in the minors but they all played. |
