Steam install
So for those of us that got the game Friday, Steam can now be installed on Steam.
My question is, do I need to install it a 2nd time on Steam, or should the game just simply be registered with Steam since it's clearly already installed on my PC. It's asking me to install the game, and I want to see if that's the way it's supposed to work. Will I now have two installs? Do I delete one? |

If you want Steam achievements to work, I suggest installing and playing the game through Steam. If not, don't bother and simply play your normal installation.

Markus you might want to post a sticky on this sooner than later...at the rate its going the amount of posts about steam installation is going to clog up the forums

Ok - if I do install on Steam then, since I have already started the game, can I 1.) uninstall the other install that I did on Friday, and 2.) do I need to make sure to tell the game to load my save game from another location, or does Steam automatically load my save game from the previously created save folder that was created on Friday?

It shares the same data folder, but overall Steam has its own install? Sorry for being so ignorant about this, but OOTP is the only game I play. I wouldn't even know Steam exists if it wasn't for this game.

Yes, Steam has its own location where it installs the game, but the game itself uses the default folder (on PC in My Documents) for saved games and other custom data.

It did load my game that I have already started. I'd rather use Steam so I can install on other machines easier.
I still see (I think) two installs of OOTP16 on my machine, one from Friday, and another that I just installed. It doesn't take up much space so may not be a big deal, but wondering if I can just un-install the install from Friday, as I won't load the game that way. |
