Converting a relief pitcher to a starting pitcher

Is there a specific way to convert a relief pitcher to a starting pitcher? I tried editing the pitcher's stamina but his stamina still remains at 4.

The change in stamina doesn't show up until the player is re-scouted. Have your scout take a look; when he reports back, the stamina on the screen will have changed.

You need to give more info. In my leagues 4 is a starter if he has the pitches.

Stamina will normally control whether a pitcher can start, also usually the number of pitches (most of the time need 3 to be a valid starter.) Of course you can also change their position in the editor tab.

In terms of editing, make sure you hit return after you change a value, that might have happened to you.

Would not also under player strategies tab and forcing a low Stam pitcher to start in the minors also help out?

Stamina means nothing if he doesn't have the pitches. That is number of and quality. Also we must say what scale for stamina. There is a huge difference between 3/5 3/10 3/20 3/80 and 3/100.

Been awhile since I have played fictional, but can a reliever learn new pitches or is that hard set?

A young reliever can learn a new pitch -- but it's uncommon and not something that's under your control. It is both rare and random in my experience.

I shall have to test this out on my Steam version on the desktop. That has been anointed the fictional machine!

Stamina also doesn't change much anyway. I think on 20-80 scale the biggest increase I saw over a couple years was 10, and that was rare. Granted, that was in 15, but I can't imagine it being that different in 16.

Yeah, the number of quality pitches a guy has matters FAR more than his stamina in determining his ability to start.

Here's the thing: stamina doesn't translate to a hard-coded number of pitches. Someone with a 4/10 in stamina might be able to throw 30 pitches as a reliever, but probably around 90-100 if his role is set to SP. If a guy has low stamina, it's low based on the average number of pitches for his listed position.

The best way to turn a reliever into a starter is to give him a decent third pitch. That said, I have seen a 2-pitch starter before. Only once, but I've seen it.
