Things To Do When Expanding The League

I am planning on expanding the MLB to 32 teams. Probably will do 4 divisions in each league, each with 4 teams.

One problem I have had in the past is that I will do this, set the schedules to auto-generate for all of the minor leagues after altering them, etc. and then I will start playing I will inevitably come across a scheduling problem which makes me start over.

Anyone have a list of must-dos before every season (and a date on the calendar for when to do them) to ensure there are no weird scheduling glitches where I would have to start over? I know this is probably a confusing question and one that is hard to answer. Anyone know where I should anticipate problems? I just don't feel like setting up a whole test league. Really want to play the game!

Never change the draft date or the league start date. Allow the league to program it automatically otherwise it will cause massive confusion.

I always make sure the draft pool is set to an appropriate level too because if you don't have enough people coming in then well, you won't have enough people later! Also I usually put this a little higher than it's supposed to be, but that's seperate.

And the last thing I do is make sure the playoffs are set correctly.

Do you check this before EVERY season with EVERY minor league? Because that's where I've had problems. Also, since I'm generating completely new schedules with more teams, should I have the game check for matching schedules, hold an all-star game, etc?

Whenever I expand leagues I check for those things. But not every season. The AI will correctly readjust the dates and events afterwards that's why I never touch them.

I generate schedules a couple times and make sure that it makes sense. The only time I worry about the all-star game is when I'm creating a league with too few teams then we obviously don't use it so I uncheck it. Otherwise I've never had an issue with it.
