Quick question
Hey I've been very disappointed with most of the sports games this year, manager ones and playable ones (fifa / nba / nhl) and I've heard nothing but outstanding stuff about OOTP.
Being a hockey fan, I naturally tried FHM, which I tried to love, but its flaws caught up to me and I got bored of it and decided waiting for FHM2. I never played baseball, understood baseball or whatever, I just know that where I come from, the Expos were very popular. So here's my question! If I start OOTP16, will the game somehow teach me a bit how Baseball works? I mean like I know it is a fairly complex games in the meaning that it has a lot of replay valuability, but can I somehow learn baseball by playing OOTP16? Thanks in advance! |

You certainly can learn baseball through OOTP, though it'd simply be through a brute force method. You'd pretty much play it to learn it. The game doesn't hold your hand much. It won't be easy.
That said, I have seen many people on these forums who have discovered and/or learned more about baseball through OOTP. My suggestion: Google the rules, do some reading - I'm sure there's some stuff on Wikipedia you can check out. And if you need clarification on anything, start a thread in the New to the Game? section and someone will help you out. There's been plenty of general baseball questions answered there in the past. Give it a shot, though. You're in for a real treat with OOTP if you like the managerial aspects of sports. |

Thanks, I really think I'll give it a try, just another question though, considering the price, OOTP 16 sounds pricy for a game Im really not sure I'll get hooked.
Is there a big difference between OOTP 16 and 15? And would it be worth starting with MLB Manager 15 for smartphones considering my lack of experience? Thanks! |

For what you need, you don't have to get the latest version. In fact, you might be able to get old versions for free. The download page is here:
OOTP Baseball - Downloads Try downloading OOTP 14 and see if you can get it for free. If not, the price can't be that high. |

I think there's a big difference yes.
There's an ootp15 demo in the link if you scroll down. Called ootp15demosetup Index of /ootp Try that first rather than buy 15 and get hooked and wish you'd got 16
