Getting fired
What do you have to do to get fired with this years version. I have had two 30 year careers without ever being fired even though they threatened. So has anyone been fired yet'. Thanks in advance for your input.

To be fair, I'm interested as well. The logic for firing was definitely changed this year, so I'm interested to hear if people feel I'm too lenient. Was there a time when you really felt you should be fired?

I got fired from the Rockies GM post. I had won the World Series, but had a ton of expiring contracts that I couldn't keep. Most of my prospects weren't ready, and trades and FA signings didn't work so well. Next two years I finished with the second worst record, and got fired midway through the third year with another sub .500 record. Set expectations too high, too quickly.

I've been fired several times in my test leagues. I consider all but two times warranted.
right now I have a extremely easygoing owner who I'm pretty sure wouldn't mind a 20-60 season (my leagues only play 80 games) I don't think I could get him to fire me if I tried. Granted now that I say that I'll be fired by the end of my current season. |

Are we only interested in the player being fired? Because I'd be happy to do a "Sleepytime" sim and I'd probably get about 50 years of very high detail if you wanted me to do some research for you tomorrow.
If so let me know if there's anything else you would like to see numbers on. I just figure here I go through and analyze all managerial firings, see if any are truly grievous, and see if the average number of firings a year are fairly normal?

If we are only interested in how the new system is affecting the players managers, though, then this sim wouldn't be of much value...

I got fired in May of my fifth season playing as GM for the Reds from the MLB Quickstart. Started off saddled with some bad contracts and the owner insisted I keep the payroll low, develop my farm system, and win the World Series in five years. I did manage to come within one game of making the World Series in my second season, but it wasn't enough good will to keep me employed.

Yup, gotten fired after 3 consecutive losing seasons... after winning 5 championships... I like the short term memory of the owners...
