DFA issue - can't progress to the next day in playoffs

When I click "Finish Today" I am told that a player's DFA time has expired and must be assigned of released.

I go to the screen, select the player (Kenley Jansen) and select "Place on Playoff Roster" (even though he's already on it). I am then told the roster is full or the player is ineligible which is crazy, because he just saved my last two games. He is definitely eligible as he was on my DL for the final few months of the season.

I go back to my team and remove him from the 25-player Playoff Roster, then return to the DFA screen and add him, but receive the same message. I cannot move on to the next day with Jansen sitting there and I can't demote him either as he's on my 40-man roster.

Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? Help!

could use the player editor (in commish mode) and fix it i think. it's a gui, just take a peek. think it's just a checkbox, but review other things too in case they are related.

did you do any editting of players as far as putting them on a different team in the payer editor? that can have some odd side effects if you don't pay attention - ie they won't be on 40-man roster while on the mlb team, and i think some other things i noticed in the past, but a bit of a faded memory so i can't help more.

oh i think i rmember now... if oyu have waiver length >0 that can prevent you from advancing if players have been editted to be removed or something similar. 1. turn it off 2. advance a day 3. turn it back to your original setting 4. avoid whatever caused it to happen.

worse come to worst, just assign him to a minor league team, or remove him completely then re-assign etc etc..

Trying to combine DFA, DL time, and playoff rosters it's highly possible that something can go wrong. Probably easiest to set him how you feel he should be eligible through the editor, if not, then I'd suggest as a first step trying to move him to your secondary roster or minors to get him off of the DFA and then fixing the playoff roster after that.

1. Can't move him to the minors because he has a major league contract
2. He is eligible for the playoff roster according to the editor

Which option should I be selecting here?

How did he get DFA'd? That should have taken him off the 40-man roster and made him ineligible for the playoff roster.

I have no idea, although I do know that he closed Game 4 of the NLDS and Game 1 of the NLCS, so he's clearly eligible!

No dispute about his eligibility. This is very buggish because the act of putting a player on the DFA list removes him from all rosters. What does your transaction log say for 10 days ago. Were you in the playoffs then?

Can you show this screenshot from your game with Jansen on the DFA and on the playoff roster at the same time.

Ok, I think I have identified the problem but I still don't know a fix.

According to my overview, Jansen is not on my 40-man roster, however he is displaying as eligible AND part of my playoff roster!

There does not seem to be an option that allows me to add Jansen to my 40-man roster which appears to be a condition for him to be added to the playoff roster (even though he's already on it!)

This is the error message I get when I try to move forward one day.

I can't put him on the playoff roster, there is no option to add him to the 40-man roster and I can't demote him to the minors!!

Ok, I sorted it out (I think)...

Used the editor to change his contract to minor league, demoted him, then placed him on the playoff roster which seemed to work. I hope there aren't any nasty side effects to this work-around, but it's the best I could seem to manage in this scenario.
