pitcher injured on 3rd out

I just had a situation where my pitcher got injured on the 3rd out and had to leave the game.

As the pitcher's spot was up 2nd in my half of the inning, I obviously wanted to put a pinch hitter in, but the PH option wasn't available from the drop down, which meant I had to make him the pitcher and face one batter. Luckily he got an out and ironically the reliever I did bring in ended up giving 3 runs in the inning!

Has anyone else noticed this? Also, out of interest, if a pitcher gets injured and no one is in the bullpen does the replacement come in cold or is he automatically warmed up?

Dog is correct. Doesn't happen too often. Good trainer does help cut that down a bit.

Super annoying. It gets worse as well. You had your pitcher coming up 2nd so you put in a PH (and called him the pitcher). Minimal impact.

If he was up FIRST, the AI puts in a PH, without you controlling it. Very annoying.

The WORST is, what if your pitcher is up 4th or later? The game forces you to make a change, but do you put in a PH that may never come to the plate, wasting him, or do you put in a pitcher that you MAY have to waste or lose the opportunity to pinch hit.

I consider this a major bug, but nothing has been done to fix it in my time playing.

I don't worry too much about it. Its a challenge for us to overcome. I have seen it several times. Have had it happen in the first inning and the last out of the game.

The thing is that you shouldn't have to make a decision until the spot comes up. It would be nice to have flexibility in who you want to use as a pinch hitter.

Can't you put in a starter on a rest day and then replace him before throwing a single pitch or swinging the bat? I remenber working around the engine limitation this way. As far as I know, pitchers don't have to face a batter in OOTP. As you're not using this to get an illegal advantage, you're not breaking the rules in my view.

BS.

There are challenges, there are bad design choices, and there are bugs. A challenge is when your ace starter gets taken out for the season in early May. This here is at best the middle one, at worst the last one. Either way it's time to get this fixed! I've only been playing since 12, and that's five versions and counting...
