Odd treatment

I'm wondering if I set something up incorrectly with my league because I'm seeing some odd behavior by the computer managers with respect to prospects. As an example, take outfielder Homer Matthews.

Poor Homer started in a feeder league but was never a starter there despite having excellent ratings (see screenshot, I use a 20 point scouting scale). He was mostly used as a pinch hitter and posted a feeder league OPS of .938 in a 1980s level offensive environment (so his OPS+ was close to 170).

He went totally undrafted in October 1980 (no idea why based on his ratings!) but signed with a team as a FA. That team started him in A ball in 1981 but used him only as a pinch hitter; he got 64 AB and hit .313/.384/.578 (146 OPS+). For his trouble... he was released prior to the 1982 season.

Again a FA, he was picked up for free and, again, was used as a pinch hitter in 1982 getting only 66 at bats in, again, A ball while hitting .348/.488/.545 (162 OPS+). His reward.... he didn't get cut. But he was stuck in A ball again in 1983, again as a PH (61 at bats for the season) hitting .295/.375/.459.

And again he got released.

He was signed as a FA for 1984 but the poor bastard got only THREE at bats that year, going 1 for 3 with a double.

His 4 year line in A ball: 194 ab, .320/.418/.531.

His Power and Eye ratings in 1981, both at 26, were the highest in my entire universe including the major league hitters! And yet Homer, at age 21, couldn't crack an A ball lineup?

So my question is - am I doing something incorrectly with my universe setup? Or do the OOTP Gods simply hate poor Homer Matthews?? And before you ask, I have no roster size limits on my three levels of minor leagues.

Thanks for any help!

You have something weird going on with your world.dat file, apparently.

What makes you say that? I did customize it but I'm not sure how that would affect player decisions.

I'm not sure either, but without knowing what's up with world.dat, I don't know whether there are any financial oddities that may have caused the teams to release him.

I play with the financial system off so it's not a money thing.
