Historical League with Fictional Players
This will be a historical replay of MLB using fictional players and coaches starting in 1901. We will implement 1 level of minors and add more as the need arises. The league will evolve as it did in real life, except we will be using the draft from 1901 on and there will be a World Series in 1901 as well. I will report anything I deem worthy and play the role of a national baseball writer. This is my first real attempt at something like this and any feedback would be appreciated! I hope you enjoy.

Opening Day Is Here! The first Opening Day of the newly founded Major League Baseball is finally upon us! Fans are flocking too the ballparks to witness a part of history today. The first day of match-ups looks like this: ![]() Preseason Predictions: The Baltimore Orioles are predicted to win the American League this year, and that comes as no surprise when you see the amount of talent this club is putting out on the field. The O's have 4 of the Top 10 hitters and their entire starting rotation is in the Top 10 Pitchers. We are predicting them to win the American League by 13 games and for them to have the most runs scored and least runs given up in the league. Orioles Center Fielder Chris Davis projected to bat in 126 runs! ![]() ![]() In the National League the Boston Beaneaters are also projected to win their league by double digits at 10 games. They have 4 of the top 10 Hitters and their entire rotation in the top 10 Pitchers. We are predicting them to score 806 runs this season being led by Terry Flint. He's being predicted to hit .357 with 96 RBI and 95 SB. ![]() ![]() The Washington Senators are in possession of the top ranked pitcher and position player according to the BNN Player Rankings: ![]() ![]() Top MLB Prospect: ![]() 22 years old and look at those ratings! It looks like the White Sox could have a bright future ahead of them. Last edited by ProphetEyes; 10-02-2016 at 05:43 PM. |

Washington Wins Grueling 28 Inning Game Philadelphia- Today the Washington Senators (3-1) slipped by the Philadelphia Athletics (1-3) by a score 9-8 in a contest that lasted 28 innings. 4 players had 12 AB's. This is the longest game game played in our leagues short history, but I don't know if we will see a longer one anytime soon. The game lasted 7 hours and 53 minutes and included a 43 minute rain delay. ![]()

I also have made a few articles for key player injuries, but I don't know if I should post injury reports on the forum.

The young season has reached the end of it's first calendar month, with the American League playing about 11 games and the National League playing about 6. In the AL we see the Washington Senators in first place at 5-1, one game ahead of Baltimore (4-2) and Cleveland (4-2). Senators pitcher Jesse Kazen (1-1) is leading the AL in strikeouts with 17 and is 3rd in ERA with 1.30. ![]() The National League shows the preseason favorite Boston Beaneaters leading their league by 2 games with a solid 9-2 start out of the gate. The Cincinnati Reds (8-5) are in second place. Boston is being lead by their two up and coming star players, shortstop Terry Flint (26) and starting pitcher Ben Block (24). Flint is 3rd in the NL in hitting with a .444 batting average, tied for second in RBI with 11 and 2nd in stolen bases with 11. In his last 6 games he is 13 for 25- .520, 0 HR, 8 RBI. Ben Block is (3-0) is tied for first in all of the big leagues with 3 wins, 2nd in ERA at 1.33, and 3rd in K's with 14. ![]() The first monthly Power Rankings show Washington as the top team. ![]() An interesting story to watch will be if the Cincinnati Reds (8-5) can stay in contention. before the season started, they were projected to have the worst record in baseball. |

Injury Derails Thomas For Season Cleveland, OH- Today the Cleveland Blues baseball club received some disappointing news about their center fielder, Greg Thomas. He has sustained a broken bone in his elbow and will miss the remainder of the season. He batted .458 through 6 games with 4 RBI. At 39 years of age we can't help but wonder, will he play next season?

Beaneaters CF Out 5 Weeks Boston, MA- The Boston Beaneaters will be without CF Jesse Flint for the next 5 weeks with an intercostal strain. Flint is leading the AL in WAR with 1.4 and has a stat line of .368/.419/.529/.948, 2 HR, 10 RBI, 16 SB in 15 games played. Will Boston be able to stay atop their league standings missing this big time contributor for over a month?

Injury Bug Bites in Washington Washington D.C.- The Senators (10-5) are only 1 game behind the Baltimore Orioles (11-4) and the Detroit Tigers (11-4) for first place in the American League, but today they have learned that they will be without starting shortstop Pat Murphy for 5 weeks. A decent contact hitter through the young season at .277, it's the field where Murphy will truly be missed. He is a gold glove caliber fielder and Washington will miss having that asset on the field during the coming weeks. |

Monthly Update The month of May saw a few teams really shine in the newly formed MLB. The Baltimore Orioles (23-11) continued to dominate the American League with a 19-9 record during the month. 27 year old RF Gene Cole is leading the team in all major offensive categories with a .353 batting average, 1 HR (tied for 1st on the team), 25 RBI, and 29 SB, which leads the American League. On the mound for the O's, Danny Michael (6-3) leads all of Major League Baseball with a 1.44 ERA, and Sam Clancy's (8-1) 8 wins matches Washington Senators (19-14) starter Jeff Mauldin (8-1) for tops in the Majors. The Orioles lead the AL in runs scored, stolen bases, runs against, starters ERA, and bullpen ERA. The Detroit Tigers (21-14) went 18-12 in May and sit 2.5 games behind the Orioles in the American League. Tigers 3B Matt Stucky leads the AL with a .366 average and LF Donavon Rodgers is 2nd in the league batting .362. SP Willie Martinez (6-2) is 2nd in the AL with a 1.71 ERA. The Philadelphia Athletics (9-25) so far are the worst team in baseball. ![]() In the National League we see the Boston Beaneaters (23-15) and the Brooklyn Superbas (23-15) tied for the lead in the league. Boston SS Terry Flint is continuing to hit NL pitching all over the park with his MLB leading .423 batting average and team leading 26 stolen bags. Boston 1B Kyle Svec leads the bigs with 5 long balls and 39 RBI. Despite these performances, the clubs pitching has been subpar and they went 14-13 on the month of May. Which brings us to the Brooklyn Superbas. They had a big month of May with an 18-9 record. 24 year old CF Kyle Hobbins is leading the team offensively with a .384 average (3rd in MLB) 1 HR. and 34 RBI (2nd in MLB). This kid has a lot of years left and should be fun to watch for sometime. Their pitching has been average so we will see how far the bats can get them or if their pitchers settle in. ![]() Players of the Month American League Batter of the Month Gene Cole, RF Baltimore Orioles Cole hit .377 on the month with 1 HR, 21 RBI, 23 runs scored, swiped 27 bags and had a .430 OBP. ![]() National League Batter of the Month Terry Flint, SS Boston Beaneaters 26 year old Terry Flint had an impressive month of May with a .413 batting average, 12 RBIs, 24 runs scored and 15 stolen bases. He also drew 21 walks compiled an incredible .516 OBP for May. ![]() American League Pitcher of the Month Sam Clancy, SP Baltimore Orioles Clancy put together a fine month with a 7-1 record, and a 1.51 ERA over 71.2 innings and 27 strikeouts. ![]() National League Pitcher of the Month Mark Mitchell, SP Philadelphia Phillies The 32 year old collected 6 wins and 2 losses in May with a fine 1.83 ERA in 64 innings of work. So far this year Mitchell is 7-4 with a 2.44 ERA. ![]() American League Rookie of the Month Marty Sides, 2B Boston Americans The young second baseman put up some pretty good numbers, batting .304 with 2 homers and 24 batted in. He also stole 16 bags and scored 18 runs. On the year Sides is hitting .336 with 2 HR, 31 RBI, 22 runs scored, and 21 stolen bases. ![]() National League Rookie of the Month Kyle Hobbins, CF Brooklyn Superbas This kid has all the makings to be something special. Americans Lose Catcher Boston, MA- Today the Boston Americans (28-24) learned of the loss of their starting catcher Steve Gaitan, considered by many to be the best all-around catcher in the game, for the remainder for the season. Gaitan suffered a concussion sliding into second base, colliding with Chicago White Sox (24-29) second baseman Josh Crayton in the bottom of the ninth inning in Thursdays game. The game finished 3-1 in favor of the White Sox. Boston is currently 3 GB in the AL.

First MLB Trade Today we saw the first trade in Major League Baseball history take place between the Washington Senators (34-22) and the Chicago White Sox (24-33). The Sox received 26 year old center fielder Jake Reef and Washington gets 30 year old catcher Jason Burke in return. Chicago have had two catchers capable of starting for most clubs on their roster and trade away one to pick up a centerfielder to fill a much needed hole in their lineup. Reef is batting .255, but is a strong CF defensively and has good speed on the base paths. Washington picks up a defensively capable catcher that is also hitting .285 with a .331 OBP, 2 HR, and 14 RBIs on the year, and should make their strong club even stronger.
