Lightbulb 20-80 ... default rating scale in OOTP 17

A little heads-up, the 20-80 rating scale is now the default in OOTP 17 for player current & talent ratings. Stars will remain the default for player overall & potential.

Cool?

Makes sense to me.

Without stars, the OVR/POT is still fixed at 20-80, right?

Totally cool! Saves a change on league creation. But I'd go 2 to 8 or 1 to 10 on the coaches because a little uncertainty about coach quality is a good thing.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Oh, I forgot, coaches have non-numerical values for a while now, haha

And I thought you were changing that.

Can you add the option in the game to change the default scale? This way, if I'd choose 1-100, it would be default in all my next created games.

this would be nice. i use 1-20 but the concept of making it default is the same. Don't mind the change in game default, as long as i can it change to the way i play.

and i don't know why i use the 1-20, but it's what i've gotten used to.

Fine with me, but I'll change to something more logical anyway.

That baseball uses 20-80 is weird as it is.

I actually like the stars better, with the potential showing as a number it feels weird to see so many people being 70-80's overall when their potential shouldn't be anywhere near that high.

Then again that might've just been my game, and the stars probably mean the same thing. But nonetheless it was kind of jarring.

Excellent.

I never liked the stars. 1 - 100 is alright, but I always liked 20 - 80 best.

I read somewhere (more than likely a scouting link from this forum) that they picked 2-8 or 20-80, with 50 being considered average because each digit away represents a standard deviation. So that would cover around ~98% of the possible talent scale. So one standard deviation away from 50 is 60, two is 70 etc...

I'll still use 1-5 if it's available and stars for overall/potential, so as long as those are still options in-game, I'm a happy camper.

And 1-10, how most things are ranked and understood wouldn't work?

I'm gonna join the "I don't give a cookie, I use 1-20 anyway." camp.
