Fictional League Ideas...MLB & RISK Collide!
OOTP Baseball 17 will be my first go around with the game, and since I have worn out the 2016 demo, I couldn't help myself but to get going on my idea for a Fictional League.
I'm a huge fan or both Risk and Axis & Allies, and decided that perhaps a game of World Domination - Baseball style! would be fun. My league is going to consist of teams made up from the 42 territories found on the original Risk board (some name variations have occured over the years) It does feel a little odd since the United States only takes up 3 territories on the map, and Canada for example, has 4. But that's the price of doing business I suppose. There will be 6 divisions, with 7 teams in each. Most of team names have some significance or wildlife relevance to the geographic region. But are really as a result of the wonderful 5000+ logos that are available on these forums. Kudos to this community for having such luxury items. Some of them cross over continents. They are as follows. GREAT WHITE NORTH DIVISION Alaska Klondikes Northwest Territory Mounties Greenland Glaciers Alberta Stampede Ontario Lynx Quebec Crazies (based on the logo set I downloaded, I had to use it) Iceland Snow Owls (the bird that gets whacked in Dumb and Dumber) PANAMA CANAL DIVISION Western United States Bandits Eastern United States Freedom Central America Border Cats Venezuela Jaguars Brazil Beachbums Peru Predators Argentina Cows EIFFEL TOWER DIVISION Great Britain Revolution Western Europe Conquistadors Southern Europe Spartans Northern Europe North Stars Ukraine Power Scandinavia Vikings Afghanistan Iron Camels SERENGETI DIVISION North Africa Sunrays Egypt Pharoahs East Africa Lions Congo Gorillas South Africa Storm Madagascar Islanders Middle East Drillers RED SQUARE DIVISION Ural Cossacks Siberia Huskies Yakutsk Ice Cats Kamchatka Seals Irkutsk Wolverines Mongolia Barbarians Japan Ninjas OUTBACK DIVISION Eastern Australia Surfers Western Australia Koalas New Guinea Rainmen Indonesia Rhinos Siam Twins China Dragons India Cobras I'm really looking forward to this. I'm going to shoot for 4 levels of minors, so I'll need 168 total minor league teams to go with 140 feeder teams. Will all of my minor league teams need to come from North America? Or can you set up minor league franchises in Asia, Europe, etc. ? I'm interested to hear about any other fictional league ideas for OOTP 17. If there is already a thread for this I apologize.... this game can't come soon enough!! |

And if, say, you put a league within the region of Western Europe, and place teams in various countries throughout the region, you can limit foreign players based on either the league's region or the team's country. To say the game is highly configurable is a bit of an understatement.

Very cool idea. I realized you don't have any teams named Raccoons. If I may, I'd like to inquire as to why. Your not prejudiced against raccoons are you? ![]()

Axis and Allies player here too.
Been playing it since the Milton Bradley version of it all those years ago. Big fan of the 1940 2nd edition games.

I was fairly confident this was the case and now I can keep plugging away at minor team names that will fit regions. |

He'll probably just settle for a customized table with an embedded map and drawers for everything. Either way I'm pulling for him. I'm out of practice lately as most of us who like to play have hit the 2 kids zone, and coordinating games is near impossible. |
