74 years with OOTP16
I just finished my 74th season. Here are some of my top stats. Just curious what your league looks like. I only played the 74, don't have time for anything else and that's almost a year in real time. I think my stats show how accurate OOTP is when it comes to how the game is set up.
These are notable stats and are all with drafted players. In no particular order. None of these guys were on my team except one of the pitchers which I will note below. Career number of hits 4,127. but it took him 27 years to get to this. He retired at age 46. He was a cancer in the clubhouse and tormented managers. Still shocked how long this guy played at a decent level. Hits in a season 265 Hitting streak. 43 games Home Runs in a career 644 Home runs in a season 61 --only one guy in my league hit 60 or more. Batting average .393 He was over 400 for most of season fell off in September. RBI's in a season. 185 Runs in a season 173 Stolen bases in a season 103 Stolen bases in a career 1236 Number of scoreless innings pitched. Yeah, OOTP doesn't keep track of this but my pitcher had 92 consecutive scoreless innings pitched. I only noticed it because he was my pitcher. Finished with a 1.11 ERA that year, the next year 1.71, year after that I lost him to injury for 13 months and when 13 months were up it changed to a career ending injury. Wins in a season 31 Career wins 343 K's in a season 393 Career K's 5837 Saves in a season 57 Saves in a career 812--He was part of a dynasty that was sadly not my team. Some of those are records but overall I think this is a very accurate game stats wise. Just like real baseball, you think you found that guy that is going to break every record but injuries or age catch up with them and they never get there. On a side note, The Yankees didn't win a world series in that 74 years. They went to the WS several times but didn't win it. Sorry Yank fans. I'm a Met guy and I won 7 WS in my 74 years.

How did your league begin? Historical? Fictional? Current MLB? Did your have today's standard setup, or a smaller league similar to MLB seasons of the past. I hope you don't , mind the questions but I love this kind of stuff lol.

Whoops, I should have put that info in there. I love the questions btw, hope people will share their league stats. Though I would prefer stats from people that didn't edit the players abilities.
I used the current MLB season, so I started in 2015 with current players at the time.

Hey Hannibal05,
How did you get the stats to come out the way they did. I am halfway through a season where a lot of my guys only have about 18 R.B.I.s and about 10 home runs. Jose Abreu is an exception as he is on pace for 60 HRs and 175 RBI. I have tried adjusting the modifiers but it does not seem to be affecting much. Thanks. Congrats on your league! |

Just curious, how long has it taken you to play 74 seasons?

I did try to start some other seasons separately from this where I did modify it but I didn't get far with them. Time issues were my main concern. I wanted to play a career and didn't have the time to keep switching back and forth so I stuck with one league and played the 74 seasons.

Almost a year real time. I started the first day you could download OOTP16 (early release) and just finished with my 74 year post. I didn't play each game, I simulated a week at a time.
I'm sure there are guys on here who think "74 seasons? I have 4 leagues with 100 seasons!" But I didn't have time to do that but would have liked to. There were weeks at a time, especially in the summer where I didn't even touch the game so I think getting 74 years in was pretty good. I'm very happy with this game, I don't like console baseball games where my guy can hit 130 home runs in a season or win 155 games in a 162 game season. OOTP is by far, the best baseball sim out there for realistic stats. I sound like an advertisement.

you can't look at individual results or 1 year's results as a way to evaluate the concept you are asking about. no matter what settings you use, all sorts of random stuff will happen to individuals. the 'eye test' just won't cut it. You can be systematic about it and hone some 'good' LTMs relative to your LT values, or you can set the LT and use automatically adjust LTM each year (ugh, i can't believe i said that about auto LTMs. it's a terribly illogical way to do it relative to the concept of modelling real-life - e.g. in real life 'god' doesn't decide there should be more HR this year because last year dipped a bit, which is exactly what auto changing LTM does. that is the antithesis of the law of independent results and should be inexcusable anywhere but entertainment, like a video game. the only reason i mention is because it is infinitely easier to implement for most people.) ******** The meat of the answer: essentially, if you have LTM/LT for HR around 5000HR per year, you are going to have more 600hr career players than if those values were set to 4000HR per year. apply that concept to all other statistical categories. so, career and single season records are strongly correlated to these settings. regardless, outliers can occur anywhere at anytime... just at a very low rate. ******** so, how high you want various records to get is mostly relative to your LTM/LT settings. player ratings and what stats they likely will equate to are relative to those LTM/LT settings. a power 80/80 with LTM/LT HR=100 isn't going to hit many HR relative to a player with 80/80 power in a league that has LTM/LT HR=1000. |

you can turn that stuff off. go to league evolution settings. it sounds like you would prefer at least a couple tick boxes unchecked, if not the whole thing.
