Any known problems with OOTP16 conversion?

I converted my OOTP16 league midway through last season (first time I ever tried that BTW), and last season, everything seemed alright.

This season, I've got news for just my organization turned on and every game, my AAA team was either shut out or shutting someone else out. So I end up looking at the league stats and see this:

Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

To summarize, I'm 30 games in and the league batting average is about .095. Looking at the 'stats and AI settings', the league totals add up to .280/.351/.395. No-one can hit. The league leader is hitting .174.

I've been playing this league for a while and will dump 17 if I can't do a conversion. Is there something that commonly gets messed up during conversions that I should look at?

I've never had a successful conversion before. From 15 to 16 my league history was deleted, and pitchers were winning minor league hitter of the year awards with like 20 AB's on the year.

I've imported my game from version to version starting with OOTP4 in 2002 all the way up to v17 and have not had any problems.

I'm planning on switching over to 17, but I'm waiting until the season is over. When I went from 14 to 15 I did it mid season and everything got screwed up. Then going from 15 to 16 I did it after the season and had no problems. So in a couple of weeks we will end our season and I'll switch from 16 to 17 at that point.

I've never had an issue with converting any of my leagues, but I have also never converted mid-season. I always stop and convert just before Opening Day of the following season.

I've had this happen to me too when I converted some games from 16 to 17. I don't know why, but somehow, the Hits modifier was down to something like .180. So, you can go to League Settings > Stats & AI > League Totals, and check if the Hits modifier has been altered. Just edit it back to 1.000, and it should be alright.

You know what, that's it. And the first thing I had done before was look at that screen.

My modifier was .277, which looks like a batting average so I overlooked it. And then when I looked next to my BABIP column, I saw the .280/.351/.395 slash line and assumed that's what the league average is supposed to be based on all the data you've entered. It isn't.

Other things were off, too. The WP modifier was over 16. HR was something like 6. I changed everything to 1.000. I wish there were a button that would do that on every league, because I doubt the problems are limited to my AAA.

Anyway, thanks for that... it saved my league!

If it means anything, I opened OOTP16 to get my old modifiers and for the league in question, they were even more messed up. A couple of the other leagues were set to 1.000 in everything, which won't look quite right since I'm in 1901. But I can do some suspension of disbelief there, and that's assuming the leagues won't fix themselves next year.

The conversion process shouldn't be overwriting/modifying anything in the original file, should it? Because it looks like that might be going on.

The questionable leagues, by coincidence, were a AAA which I added several seasons into the game, and non-feeder high school and college leagues which were also not part of the original setup. The original leagues were all fine. It's an interesting problem. Well, 'interesting' now that my league is OK again. 'Awful' when it wasn't.

Make sure to check your league modifiers, mine changed in the conversion to 17 for some odd reason.
