Question for experienced graphic modders

I am wondering if it's possible to edit the .raw files included in the retail version of OOTP. I need a way to open and edit these files, but it appears they can't be opened with normal graphical editors such as GIMP..which I use on Mac.

Any thoughts?

Are these protected since they are copyrighted and of high quality images?

I searched the app store and no apps can open it. According to Mr. Marlin, in the thread I linked to, Adobe Lightroom can view the files, but not open the file for editing. It looks like you can't edit those files, unfortunately.

This thread goes into a little more detail, but it basically a different file that users can't edit in order for MLB to protect its intellectual property: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...-unis-now.html

That's a shame, as the quality of the images are fantastic compared to what I can do on my own without having extremely high resolution (2000x2000 or higher) images for every logo there is. The shame of it is, the MLB teams' seem to get their own color shades wrong.

Just curious, what are you wanting to edit, logos or uniforms?

Logos. I am looking to simply change some of the high quality logos slightly. e.g. color. Here are a couple of example of the best I can do. These are the best quality logos I can make with my very limited graphic editing knowledge. I can only grab the best images I can find on the internet (2000x2000 or higher) and then change colors, or maybe add a border. The problem is, there's no way to find all of the logos I like in that type of format....I mean, minor league logos aren't really found in high quality on the web. In fact, the best I seem to be able to find are MLB cap logos.

Wikipedia has tons of logos in SVG format, which is a scalable vector format. I use those whenever possible because you can change the colors and output them at whatever size you wish without any odd borders or anything.

Of course, you need somewhat specialized software to edit SVG files, notably Inkscape (which is 100% free) and Inkscape can definitely take some getting used to. But once you get used to it, you can get some outstanding results.

And as a tip: If you search Google Images and append "filetype:svg" to your search ("Los Angeles Dodgers filetype:svg") it should limit your results to SVG files.

This recolor took all of 2 minutes just using a basic find and replace, similar to how you would do it in a word processor.

Can Inkscape be used with Mac?
If so, do you have step by step instructions from opening the file, to resizing, color etc?

It looks like there's a version, yes:

https://inkscape.org/en/download/mac-os/

To replace colors from the Extensions menu -> Color -> Replace Color. Just enter the hex codes of the color you want to replace with the color you want to change it to. When you're done, there's an "Export PNG Image" option from the File menu. You set the image size when you export, because it doesn't matter what the size is in the SVG file (that's one of the key things about vector graphics).

I wouldn't recommend exporting 150x150 PNG files, as Inkscape might stretch things to make it fit that size. Just export so that the longest side is 150 pixels and then use another image editor to pad the image out to 150x150 if necessary.

Of course, the menus might be a bit different in the Mac version.

On my phone they look fine. I will upload them in the game and see how they really look, and get back.

What software are you using?

Okay, I checked them out. They're nicely done. Same size as the in game logos and just the different red color you changed it to.
