OOTP experiment: Perfect pitcher and hitter
I made a perfect pitcher and hitter in the editor of this game as an experiment to see just how good a player can get in this game. When I need a break from my main saves, I sometimes run experiments like this to see how the game and ratings really work.
I don't know if this has ever been done and posted to the forum, so if this is a repost I apologize. If this goes well I'd be happy to post some more ratings experiments. I named the players after some legendary red sox players, and maxed out every rating and made them both over 8 feet tall. I made the hitters catcher rating lower because the AI were being stupid and not playing him every day because they wanted him at catcher. He actually had perfect pitching ratings as well but they never actually used him on the mound. The hitter, Martinez, won 15 MVPs and 4 world series. In his prime, he got paid 34 million dollars a season. He broke almost every major league record. He had some seasons lost to injury. Most of his career was at SS and 1B. The pitcher, Ramirez, won 25 Cy Youngs and 25 MVPs in the AL. He only won 2 world series surprisingly. |

So he had maxed out contact and power and he didn't lead the league in homers every year?

I thought this was weird too! The first couple seasons you can tell that he had the max 250 power rating, because he was dominating. Either injuries or some sort of regression must have pushed his ratings down.

reduce Eye to ~100-140 and you will get much larger counting stats, like hr.
what's optimal for winning? no idea.. but drop it to 1 to maximize the effect. with 250's in other ratings, he'll still be consistent. i've never done that, but i have seen a very well-put-together fictionally created player with virtually no eye that was a first-ballot HoF'er type career. reduce gap too 100-160ish. the way ltm's work this may also help.. but, on an individual level it may not really translate, either... imo, i think oyu get a few more hr with a lower gap (2b/3b). never tried to reduce to 1 here, either. i'd wager that unlike Eye, you probably want to be at least average here... for sake of consistency of driving in runs?? realtively speaking they will likely be roughly the same results expressed by WAR or OPS+, but your league baseline statistical environment will set the possible range. whether it's 70hr or 50hr it basically means the same thing as far as how good relative to average. Cool, I never thought about how these ratings would interact with each other. I figured that maybe because he hit for such a high average it made his power and eye ratings regress somehow. I might experiment some more and see what the max amount of HRs I can get out of a player is.

I didn't bother looking at the video, but did you go into the editor and max her ratings out, too?
