Playing as GM or GM+Manager - Advice please
Hi all,
I wanted to try to simulate what a real GM goes through and thought about playing just as a GM of the Boston Red Sox (my home team), but I'm having a little trouble. I have some questions. Keep in mind, I sim games only. 1. Playing as the GM, my Manager (John Ferrell) won't let me change my lineup or pitching rotations. Any way around this? Do most managers not let the GM interfere with this? 2. While the Red Sox aren't really a World Series contender this year, they aren't terrible either. I found myself going on 10+ game losing streaks where I would just got dominated. Then win 1 game, then lose another 6-10 games in a row. I don't understand what I really can do to turn this losing around? I can't change the lineups or rotations...any advice? 3. I have an "ok" knowledge of the game in real life, but there are some things I really don't know. Can someone explain to me why or in what situation I would want to "Designate a player for assignment"? Why not just send them to waivers immediately or release them immediately? What does DFA'ing a player do for me exactly? Last question 4. For those of you that play only as GM, at what point are you like "ok I need to fire this manager because he's losing way too many games". ? Do you immediately try to hire a new manager at that point or do you takeover the reigns yourself? Thank you for your help! Last edited by joejccva71; 08-07-2017 at 06:39 PM. |

by DFA'ing someone, you can place them in your minor league system if they clear waivers.
can't help with anything else, I play as Manager. |

You can change the settings in Team Control if you want influence rotation/lineups

1. In the global settings, check the box that says "GM always controls lineups".
2. See #1. Now you can tinker. 3. DFA gives you 7 days to decide where you want the player. If you want to remove them from the 40-man roster, you might as well waive & DFA in order to choose the level where you want them. 4. I would never make the change in the first season. I usually fire personnel on the first day of the offseason and then immediately shop for replacements. |
