Shohei Ohtani will go to the.......
Ok, ONE word answers. You have to name ONE team only. You can give your opinion why you chose the team you did, but you can't say "Yankees, or maybe the Dodgers...." Is has to be ONE choice only.
I will start.....he goes to the YANKEES. |

This is a hot take, but Brewers. An NL team would be able to give him pitching and hitting time simultaneously, and from what I've read, he's not in it for the glitz. I think he'd fit in well with a borderline playoff team.

Rangers
they can use the pitching help, and he can DH when he's not on the mound. |

Mariners.
I don't know. I just read a news story the other day saying they were working hard on doing everything they could to get him. And since I haven't really been a Mariner fan since 2001, I'd really like to see him on the team. The more interesting question to me is: is he more valuable on a NL team or an AL team? I would have just assumed an NL team, but listening to others he might actually be more valuable on an AL team. If he batted and fielded on his non-pitching days on an NL team he could probably easily tire out or even burn out. I'm no pro athlete, but even just playing recreationally I know you can get pretty beat up playing the field. On an AL team as a DH he could maybe play close to 100% throughout a season whereas on an NL team I have to think there's far less a likelihood of that happening. Either league he can bat on the days he pitches. Question: In the AL, if he's removed from the game as the pitcher, can he still stay in as the DH? I seem to remember you lose the DH if you have the same guy doing both and he leaves one, but maybe I'm confusing two different rules.

rules do state if a DH appears in a defensive role, that team loses the DH role for the rest of the game... but I can't find anything for/against moving the pitcher to the DH role between innings when he's replaced by a reliever... it'll be interesting to see how it pans out if he does end up with an AL team.

It's not like he can't do both of those things on an AL team

Do we know which teams are out of the running? Other then the Yanks & Twinkies I havn't heard. Wondering if the Sox or Cubs are in it at all. Still picking with my pick of Dodgers but it does make sense for him to go to an AL team to DH.

according to mlb.com, teams that are out of the running:
Yankees, A's, Blue Jays, Braves, Brewers, Cardinals, D-backs, Mets, Nationals, Pirates, Rays, Red Sox, Twins and White Sox. they listed seven teams as 'front runners': Mariners, Giants, Padres, Angels, Rangers, Cubs and Dodgers |

Looks like he is wanting to stay on the west coast but also wants to include the Rangers because they have the most international money and he wants to reward the Ham Fighters.
Might be a long shot but it would nice to see him go to San Diego because that cities sports fans need at least one bright piece of news. |
