Vote: Alltime Baseball League Western League Outstanding Hitter (2019)

It's time to vote for the Alltime Baseball League 2019 awards. As was the case last year, anyone voting in all the awards posted will get to pick any player to be included in the upcoming ABL Amateur Draft.

For those who don't know, the ABL (link to the dynasty is above) is a 16-team league based on the top players (based on WAR) in baseball history. A random spreadsheet generates the draft classes each year.

Thanks for taking part! As long as we get to 10 votes in a category, the board will pick the award winners!

Don't understand how Stanton and Glaus got into the poll with their poor batting averages.

Ditto for one of your pitching polls... Satchel Paige should never have been in the poll... several others, too.

Weird tone to this, but I'll respond...

Paige is easy...was the league's ERA leader and it wasn't even that close. Despite his injury he had enough innings to qualify.

Stanton and Glaus were top 5 in homers. I'd probably whittle the list down from 10 to 5 going forward as I did for the pitchers. Basically to be eligible you have to be top 5 in average, homers, RBIs, OPS or WAR. From that, the top 10 guys based on points (ranking in each category) were on the ballot. Ten is admittedly overkill, though, which is why I went to 5 for pitchers.

Maybe I'm just weird in my assessments... I'm not a SABR guy... just very old... old school... and old-fashioned... in general, I would never give a batting award to .250 or less hitter... or to pitchers with less than 12-15 wins... or to a pitcher with a losing record.

I get that. I certainly didn't think they'd win. I was really just locked in in getting to the 10 on the ballot based on my eligibilities. If it was just five as it should have been in retrospect, it would have been Crawford, Cobb, McCovey, Guerrero and Chance.

That said, Jim DeShaies once got a vote for the Hall of Fame! So voting takes all kinds!
