World Baseball Association : A World of Fictional Leagues
Introduction
I’ve never done anything like this on OOTP, but I’ve done some of these over the years in games like FIFA, Total Extreme Wrestling and more recently Hollywood Movie Studio, but I’ve never been as passionate as I am right now with my OOTP save. I’ll apologize to you in advance for my grammar mistakes, because I think it’s important for you to know that English isn’t my first language and I learned it at school, so please be gentle and if you see any mistakes, feel free to mention them to me and I’ll try to correct them to the best of my capacities. Right now, I’m simulating the 2004 season of my game (it started in 2000) and there are already new teams in the league. As you’ll see, I was immensely inspired by CivicEvo’s wonderful Growing Baseball Worldwide: A Business Dynasty that I believe you should all read, because it’s that much awesome. My main goal is to grow baseball into a worldwide sport, starting with a five team league in the United States. There won’t be much text in my updates because I created a wikia that I'll update at the beginning of every season SPOILERS AHEAD : http://world-baseball-association.wi...sociation_Wiki I also want to thank everyone who contributed to the immense logo pack I use and everyone who will read this dynasty. 2000 Season
2000 Season
Unfortunately, due to an error on my end, some teams didn't play the same number of games than others, this will be fixed for the 2001 season. ![]() The New York Bombers win the American League division for the first time ever and will face the Dallas Rangers in the first ever Championship Series! ![]() New York blew a 3-1 lead to Dallas who win the first ever Championship Series 2000 Awards Great Glove Award P Joe bin Wafeeq (NY) C Kurt Dale (BOS) 1B Pat Cruse (CHI) 2B Mario Padilla (DAL) 3B Cam Sharp (CHI) SS Jared Goodman (MIA) LF Mark Grenier (NY) CF Morgan Lynch (BOS) RF Mike Payton (CHI) Silver Slugger C Kevin Wesling (NY) .351/.461/.628, 148 AB, 10 HR, 2.6 WAR 1B Pedro Salazar (MIA) .261/.442/.570, 142 AB, 13 HR, 1.6 WAR 2B Brent Sutton (NY) .344/.399/.467, 180 AB, 3 HR, 1.2 WAR 3B Kory Myers (NY) .308/.384/.497, 143 AB, 5 HR, 1.1 WAR SS Guadalupe Olivas (NY) .333/.397/.461, 165 AB, 3 HR, 0.6 WAR LF Bill Orr (MIA) .295/.401/.651, 149 AB, 14 HR, 1.6 WAR CF Jon Bressner (NY) .318/.398/.555, 173 AB, 10 HR, 1.4 WAR RF Travis Nelson (MIA) .380/.448/.696, 171 AB, 13 HR, 2.0 WAR DH Jonathan Scotton (NY) .306/.381/.503, 173 AB, 9 HR, 0.8 WAR Reliever of the Year Jeff Yeadon (DAL) 2-2, 10 SV, 0.74 ERA, 24.1 IP, 36 K Rookie of the Year RHP Joe bin Wafeeq (NY) 4-4, 11G, 72 IP, 60 K, 4.13 ERA Pitcher of the Year CL Jeff Yeadon (DAL) 2-2, 10 SV, 0.74 ERA, 24.1 IP, 36 K Most Valuable Player C Kevin Wesling (NY) .351/.461/.628, 148 AB, 10 HR, 2.6 WAR As you can see, the first season's really a short report. The other seasons will be divided in multiple reports with much more details. But, you'll find more details on the wikia. |

2000 Offseason
Free Agents Fillings Reigning MVP Silver Slugger at catcher and 8th overall pick in the inaugural draft Kevin Wesling headlines this year's free agents group. He said regarding his decision to not extend his contract with the New York Bombers that he wants to be the uncontested leader in his next team. The two biggest free agents except Wesling are Silver Sluggers at RF and 2B Travis Nelson and Guadalupe Olivas. Nelson left the Sunbirds over a salary disagreement and the New York Bombers didn't planned on resigning 37 year-old Olivas at the end of this contract. I just want to add that I didn't initially planned to write a dynasty based on this save until the 2001 season, so that's why the first season isn't really detailed. The 2001 season will feature way more details than the first one. Last edited by marco999; 09-04-2017 at 02:33 PM. |

2001 ABA Season
June 1st - June 16th ![]() The Boston Bandits take an early lead with an 8-4 record. The race for the wild card looks like it will be interesting with 3 teams going head to head. The struggling Chicago Cyclones will try to maintain a high level of play to stay in contention. Top Performances ![]() Dustin Potas New York Bombers 9 IP, 6 H, 0 ERA, 2 BB, 3 K Potas threw the second ever shutout in ABA history in a 6-0 win against the Dallas Rangers ![]() Bill Orr Miami Sunbirds 2 for 3, HR, 4 RBI, 3 R, 4 BB Orr hit his first grand slam while drewing an ABA record 4 walks in Miami's crushing 15-3 win against the Chicago Cyclones. ![]() Jonathan Scotton New York Bombers 3 for 4, 2B, HR, 3 RBI, 3 R 35 year-old first baseman Jonathan Scotton was on fire against the Sunbirds, producing 3 points and crossing the plate 3 times in a 6-1 win against Miami. Key Injuries ![]() Mike Payton Chicago Cyclones Star right fielder Mike Payton fractured his fibula on Opening Day after just two at-bats. Arguably the best player of the Illinois squad, Payton will miss the rest of the season. His absence will most probably be a tough blow for the Cyclones, as Payton batted a team high 11 home runs and 35 RBI last year. ![]() Lyle Eckberg Chicago Cyclones 38 year-old starting pitcher Lyle Eckberg will miss the reminder of the season battling with shoulder inflammation. It's another tough blow for the struggling Cyclones as Eckberg was the best starting pitcher on their already thin roster. Long relief specialist Roberto Lantigua will replace him in the rotation. ![]() Eric Grassmyer Chicago Cyclones Chicago suffers another huge blow as starting pitcher Eric Grassmyer is out the rest of the campaign, suffering of shoulder inflammation. Grassmyer started the season with an 0-2 record and with a team best 3.86 ERA. 2001 ABA Season
June 16st - June 30th ![]() The Boston Bandits are still leading but about a month remaining in the season and half a game on the Dallas Rangers, does Boston has what it takes to maintain their lead? Boston could very well be the first team in ABA history to win the division after finishing last the season before. On the other end, Dallas will try to avoid repeating what happened last year, where they finishes second, behind the New York Bombers. Top Performances ![]() ![]() Key Injuries ![]() Bill Orr Miami Sunbirds As Miami is fighting for a playoff spot, star left fielder Bill Orr has been placed on the disabled list by the Sunbirds. 2001 ABA Season
June 30th - July 8th ![]() With 19 games to go for the majority of the teams, Dallas took the lead from Boston and even created a gap. Miami is trailing behind Boston and will need favorable results against New York and Chicago if they want a playoff spot. The Sunbirds have a 21 games remaining, so that could be what makes the difference. Pennant Chase ![]() Top Performances ![]() ]![]() Key Injuries ![]() Chris Rommel Dallas Rangers Left fielder Chris Rommel is out for the remainder of the season with a strained harmstring. Rommel, who played for the Bandits last season, signed a 3 year deal with the Dallas Rangers last offseason. This year, he hit for .241 with 2 HR and 9 RBI in 101 AB. |

2001 ABA Season
July 8th - July 15th ![]() The Dallas Rangers are holding on the first place and Boston created a gap with the Sunbirds and with about a dozen games remaining, it becomes clearer that Boston and Dallas will be in the Championship Series. Pennant Chase ![]() The Chicago Cyclones are now officially eliminated and a miracle would be necessary for New York to reach the playoff. Miami are not officially out of the race, but it's going to be extremely hard for them to reach the playoffs. Top Performances ![]() ![]() Key Injuries ![]() Myles Moody Boston Bandits The 36 year-old first baseman will miss the remainder of the season with an intercostal strain. It ends prematurely a completely forgettable season for the former 4th round pick in the inaugural draft. He hit for .177 with 2 HR and 9 RBI in 96 AB this season. It is not the type of numbers Boston were hoping when they signed the veteran for a 2 year deal last year. Transaction ![]() |

2001 ABA Season
July 15th - July 22nd ![]() With a series of good results the Boston Bandits are officially back in the lead with the Rangers trailing behind. The struggling Sunbirds surrendered the third place to the emerging New York Bombers, but it's probably too late. Pennant Chase ![]() The Sunbirds and the Bombers can probably say goodbye to the playoffs as Dallas and Boston are comfortably in control. Top Performances ![]() ![]() ![]() Transaction ![]() ![]() |

2001 ABA Season
July 22nd - July 29th ![]() Boston still has a small lead at the top, but everything could change after the three game series between the Bandits and the Rangers. Pennant Chase It is now official, the Rangers will face the Bandits in the Championship Series, after New York, Miami and Chicago failed to secure a playoff spot. It marks the second consecutive playoff appearance for Dallas, while Boston make their first trip to the playoffs after finishing dead last the year before. Top Performances ![]() ![]() ![]() Key Injuries ![]() Wyatt Kenny Boston Bandits Arguably the best ABA player, right fielder Wyatt Kenny injured his hand. It is not serious enough to keep him out of the lineup but it could affect his batting. This season, he broke his own record for most home runs in a season, so his injury could be a big blow for the Bandits. |

2001 ABA Offseason Part 1: League News
![]() Philadelphia Freedom The ABA welcomes a new franchise! The newly created team won't benefit from an expansion draft, but will be able to participe in all the post season extravanganza. Philly beat out several other cities for a new ABA franchise and sources say that the City of Brotherly Love was chosen because of it's proximity with other franchises. ABA expands its schedule to 50 games a year. Not much of an upgrade from last year's 48 games schedule, but it could be interesting if the 2 game increase will really have an effect. |
