How Do I Set Up/Use a Template?

For years I've started/restarted my world multiple times (after patches, wanting to switch teams and start over, etc.). I wanted to create a world template so that I don't have to go back and change everything I normally change. I renamed the awards, I changed player development speed, some financials, etc.

I figured out I could "Save as Template" from the options menu, which is great. However, when I do a new Quickstart and load the template upon starting the game, every player is duplicated.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

a quickstart is its own template. so you added a whole 2nd league from your template.

create new game, no quickstart, no wizard. "custom?" something akin to that syntax on screen.

available actions, load template on a blank slate.

you can make a template after game creation too.. but it will include the players in the template as well..

if you make it during game creation with a non historic or 2018 real player league, it will not have players and it creates a new set each time you create a game from that template.

if doing fictional, that's probably what yo uwant, so that you don't have the same 750+ mlb players and all the same mil players each time.

you can always delete them all and re-fill too. it's not a big problem either way. it is a much larger file though -- 20-50MB wihtout players vs 220+MB with players in the template.

"..data\world templates" directory if you need to remove or backup any for safe keeping. this is where you place the september roster update, if they do one (common the last few years, but thinkit's an unofficial thing that relies on volunteer work? not 100% sure, don't want to get hopes up then not have it come out)
