fictional/semi fictional league biggest issues?

just curious, anyone starting a fictional league early on (early 1900s) and playing through 50+ years, what are the biggest challenges? either during setup or play through

so far this is what I am experiencing:

setup:
-if not using all real MLB teams, it takes a lot of time and effort to set up teams, expansion, logos, uniforms (especially with minors and feeder teams and having to do uniform changes throughout history), but to me is worth it and once set up future play through has a lot of the work done already
-name sets, ethnicity mixture in early years (especially if you want integrated league but not modern day percentages)

play through:
-realistic financials, stats (even in fictional world), having to constantly monitor it
-odd unrealistic things happening, like manager of the year going to same manager for 10 straight years (yes it happened, even in years they didn't have best record or win title).
-dealing with league changes, evolving league on your own (world database, rule changes...) I had to make a spreadsheet of what to do on a decade basis and on a yearly basis so I didn't forget something. Would be cool if you could set up reminders in the game, like at the start of each year a pop up that says "remember to do xyz" and you can customize what it will say. So when X year comes around you get the reminder that you wanted to change a specific rule that year.

I haven't gotten to the play through portion of it yet, but I'm struggling with getting the feeder leagues to work appropriately. I want to play around with the name sets but not sure it's worth the pain of dealing with them. I set my feeder leagues to 15% random nationality so it gives me a good variety of nationalities. I also have problems with the little details like minor league parks not getting recognized with the teams since the sim starts in 1932 but the setup is current real life.

Started in 1871 and it is Nov 1942 right now. 16 team USBL with full minors and feeder. 10 other leagues running. Nothing too weird right now. Financials look good, stats seem to be in line with what I expect. Only took me 3 days to add feeder teams with correct uni's and stuff (300 team NCAA). Really the only issue is adding in leagues and expansion and having to add all the logo's and uni's and stuff, but not too bad.

I am adding NCAA teams as my league expands (so started with just 32 teams and keep adding with new MLB teams).

I guess what would be awesome is if in a future version there was a way to preload stuff like expansion so that when you get to that point in the game it just shows up in the news and you don't have to do anything. Sort of like how you can name your logos and jerseys to certain years (baseball cards too). When you start up a new game you would be able to sit down and program it all up front (I guess even have it saved in a template) so that in 1962 X and Y expansion teams come into play along with their minor league teams, or 16 new colleges are added to your feeder league in 1940. Only problem I could see with this is schedules and such.

if you want the real teams, you don't have to do any work. you can always use the structure of the real mlb. it's an option.

make use of templates so that you don't have to repeat that process.. "0 -game settings" tmeplate.. then a "1 - structure mlb" and you can have others 1-structure mil" in future after you load settings template etc... can build up from certain points and save time.

you can set up reminders in game... maybe in manager's office? it's not something i do, but i've seen others post about it... you can find my surprised response in one of those threads

financials and stuff you can always import from a real mlb year, then adjust.. much easier than building from scratch.
