Turning off Ratings & Catcher "passed Balls'.
I have been playing OOTP for many many years and I have always found the challenge of turning off the ratings and stars for players and relying solely on my scouts reports and the players career/year stats very entertaining.
Anyone else play the game this way? Also, has anyone else felt the catcher in games misses too many passed balls by the pitcher? base runners always move up and guys on 3B always score. It would be nice if they are called out once in a while or a passed ball doesn't go far enough to move a runner. Just seems like it happens way more then it should in a regular 9 inning game Love OOTP 19.. great work guys! GO JAYS GO |

I've had a lot of passed balls, too. Not sure what the real life average is, but it seems excessive in my save.

Mine is doing the same thing. Every year when I update OOTP I have to be careful of the passed ball multiplier in all my leagues. For some reason, the International League (AAA) comes shipped with a PB multiplier that is nearly 100x the MLB average. This year, for the first time, I had to detune my MLB average as well.

use end of season league-wide stats to assess if it's too high or too low. compare to baseball-reference, if modern or historical replay... if fictional compare to best RL era your statistical environment matches up well to.
the modifier itself doesn't mean double or triple if it is a 2.000 or a 3.000. just call it X for this example... if you find at the end of the year you have 150% too many passed balls compared to baseball reference season totals, reduce "X" by 33% -- whether it's "3.504" or ".010" it doesn't matter. (150% * .66 = 100%) to reduce 450 pb to 300, you want 150/450 fewer. or 1/3rd less. Last edited by NoOne; 04-28-2018 at 06:09 AM. |

IME passed ball rates line up pretty much spot on with historical rates because it's one of the things the game recalcs when it recalcs every season.
