Players not resting

For now I have all team strategies controlled by the AI. I have batters that are extremely fatigued/exhausted and they aren't getting rest. There are backups listed in the depth chart...don't understand why they aren't playing.

Can you give me a screenshot of your depth chart please?

Also if I manually bench a player for one day (never tried more days) in the strategy section for the player it does not reset to zero, it stays at one after playing game the following days.
