OOTPXX - PT2 - Pontiac Starchiefs & Chandler Electrics
This is my introduction post to my OOTP XX Perfect Team project which will create two teams (one P2P and one F2P) that I will report on in the Dynasty thread. My plan is to play these teams out for the entire 52 week/season lifespan of OOTP XX until OOTP XXI is released around March of 2020.
I think we have a great opportunity to improve the Dynasty Forum with Perfect Team. In past OOTP dynasties, we had to create the league, maintain it, play the games, maybe manage a team, and report the results in a format that was interesting and sustainable. I admire guys like Eugene Church, The Game, NYY #23, and Westheim for taking on such a commitment and creating a narrative that has captured our interest, but many others, myself included, find the grind of keeping with it over the long haul a massive undertaking. Perfect Team, and it's "auto-commissioner" takes a lot of that responsibility off of us. We can focus on our team, and the journalistic attribute of our experience - telling our story to our readers without getting bogged down in the logistics. Watch your team, make adjustments, and report their progress. I look forward to watching the Perfect Team Dynasties grow and thrive. Now, a little history about my team names... Pontiac Starchiefs (Free-to-Play) Two reason for this name; (1) I use to own a 1956 Pontiac Starchief (wish I still had it), plus, when my brother and I would play an improvised baseball card game when we were kids, I was always the Starchiefs. This team will be a no money team. No purchased PPs - can only use those PPs earned from the game. This will be a challenge and depends a lot on the initial card pull, but I'll struggle through whatever happens and try and add to my success with the Tournament options. Chandler Electrics (Pay-to-Play) This team is named for my college years. I attended a private technical school called Chandler Technical Institute, and earned my Electronic Engineering degree there. I decided to make this team the P2P team since I remember fondly how I struggled to raise the tuition each quarter. I'm going to put $100 into PPs (175,000) up-front and that will be my limit for the year. I'll have to decide how to spend it as I go, but that averages about 3,365 PPs per week(season) on top of whatever I earn from the game. I'm also hoping the added tournaments will give me some extra benefits. My total investment in OOTP 20 will thus be $40 for the game and $100 for purchased PPs. $140 divided by 52 weeks is $2.70 a week - well within a reasonable entertainment budget. Besides, that's about equal (in real dollars) to what I put into the Hawks ($61) plus my two lucky early pulls of Mike Trout and Johnny Bench (Estimated worth 68,000 PPs I'm going to use a similar format I used for the Hawks to report status in the Dynasty thread - but both teams will be reported simultaneously. I'll, of course, add my narrative so I can vent my frustrations or celebrate my successes - all in the hope that you readers will enjoy the adventure with me. I hope many others will accept this challenge and tell us how your doing as well. Good Luck to All !!!
