Generating players based on fictional league's ability level?
Hey,
So I have a question about generating fictional players for fictional leagues upon creation of the league- Basically I've created a British Baseball League and I want the league level to be.... rubbish.......compared to the professional leagues in North America, but every time I click the button to fill all teams with fictional players, it creates really good players, some of which wouldn't be out of place in the MLB. How do I ensure that the players who are created are really rubbish, as in the worst of the worst? I've set the league reputation to 1, the lowest level but it doesn't seem to make a difference when I generate players? |

I guess my first question would be, in what way are they really good players? In other words, if all the players in the league are being compared to one another, how do you know that they would be good compared to say, MLB-level players?
I suspect the trick here is context. In the land of the blind the one-eyed man is King. If this is the only league in your baseball universe then I don't think it much matters what the league reputation is. With nothing to compare to, relative to the quality of the league, there will still be great players and rubbish players. Now, if you then also had a league with a high reputation (say, MLB) and if the teams from your league played the teams from that league, I'm sure they would get crushed. It's all relative. You are merely, I assume, seeing players ratings as relative to the rest of your league, not as they would be rated if they were in a higher reputation league. Anyway, that's my best guess based upon the information at hand. ![]()

If your universe only has your British league, then none of this matters. It only matters if you have other leagues which you want to be “better”. Also keep in mind that you can display ratings relative to a specific league. So in your British league with low PCMs you could have a 70 rated player, but if you change the setting to relative to MLB he might be a 30. League reputation is just an added factor to control where players want to play. Other factors are money, proximity to hometown etc.
