How to hit
I am playing every inning of a 1941 season. 5 games in with zero homers. Am I supposed to just swing away? I've given up three HR

Generally speaking I don’t use pitch by pitch mode but if you are then yes, 99% of the time you want to swing away. You’d really only take if you’re ahead in the count and you don’t trust the hitter in that situation, or if the pitcher is really, really wild.
As for the HRs, in 1941 the average team hit 83 dingers with just 4 teams going over 100. Even though we expect to see multiple HRs in games in the modern game, that’s not the case with the 40s and a 5 game stretch with no HRs is pretty normal.
