Dealing With Stubborn Managers
I'm doing a Tigers rebuild, and Gardenhire refuses to drop the current closer who has a 6+ ERA and is generally just doing the Fernando Rodney experience every time he takes the mound. Do managers normally stick with a closer for a long time, even when they are underperforming? I can send him down if I must, but I believe he's still a good reliever that would be better served just throwing in the middle innings.

You can always fire the manager.

Can you force start another reliever as closer under game strategy?

30 Games, 26 Innings, Pitching Slash is as follows:
9.0 K/9, 5.5 BB/9, 1.4 HR/9, -0.2 WAR. This strikes me as a mediocre line that shows that he might be struck with a little bad luck, but is still not what you want when you're closing out your games. He is 3.5 CA & PA, has great pitch ratings and pretty good technical rankings. He also has four blown saves and five losses overall. |

He's injured now so that problem was taken out of my hands, but yeah you're right. I just don't want to have to make those decisions that often, because I'm using this game to focus much more on in-depth player signings and development rather than roster management.
