Signed NCAA player, can't send to AHL

I have a player whose rights I owned and I signed him out of the NCAA. Now when I want to send him down to my AHL team, I only have the option to assign him to the WHL team that owns his rights. The game date is 2 July 2020 and his birth date is 9 May 2001, so he won't turn 20 until the off-season.

I thought that if I signed him out of college, I could send him to the AHL. Is that how it's supposed to work or is this a bug?

Which player was it? I think I know what's causing this, but I'd like to check his data to make sure it isn't something else.

I've got three players.

Quinn Olson, born 9 May 2001, played for Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs (WHL Rights - Calgary Hitmen)
Trevor Zegras, 20 March 2001, Boston University Terriers (Drafted by OHL MIS, but OHL rights show "Free")
Alex Vlasic, 6 June 2001, Boston University Terriers (Drafted by OHL LON, but OHL rights show "Free")

Let me know if you need a game save. It can take a while on my feeble Internet connection and I won't be able to send it until after 5:00 PM Eastern Time.

Any luck with this yet? I tried monkeying with the players' rights in Commissioner Mode, but wasn't able to get past this.

If there isn't a workaround and it's going to be a while, I can go back to an earlier save and get some free agents for a year instead of signing these guys. I just have to re-do the draft which should be OK.

I just experienced the same problem with Alex Vlasic.

Signed him out of college. Now the only option is to send him back to juniors.
