Historical Play
Hi,
I'm very interested in this game... but I'm mostly interested in playing historical careers, starting in the 1950s or 1960s. I was just wondering how this version is doing with historical play? Is everything solid? Thanks! |

I've played a lot of historical (mostly 90's) and it is very solid. It is a great way to know the ins and outs of the game (scouting and training/developing isn't as big of a factor in historical) so you can get to grips with the more basic elements of the game whilst enjoying the nostalgia. I've only just started playing the current era and am enjoying how different it is to historical.

Drafts are different in that there is no jr league, so draftees show up in free agency. It's tricky trying to figure out just who's going to be available next year.
Also, the players are rated differently, much lower than in the main or custom game. WHeras you'd put a 2 star player on your third line, in historical, that 2 star may be teh best you can get for your first line. I've heard this may be adjusted in the next version. (fingers crossed) |

goalkeeper stats before 2005-06 lack of realism, overtime defeats which give a point appeared in 2005-06 (W-L-OT) before that year overtime defeats give 0 points were defeats, games do makes no difference which for example gives me George Vezina (12 W -6 L -6 OT) where as in 1917-18 a defeat in overtime is a defeat then the record of Vezina should be (12 W -12 L - 0 T)
