How to shed salary
New player to FHM and loving it. Not very familiar with hockey. Just got myself into a spot of bother. Traded for a guy I didn't really need but he's good and you can never have too much talent. BUT this trade has taken me over the cap (NHL). I can't proceed without getting back below. I don't want to trade away a decent player but if I trade a couple of the minimum contract guys I'll only need to replace them on the roster and leave me back at square one. I only to lose $1.4m. Are there any clever ways out of this or am I going to have trade a guy on a $3/4/5m contract and take a low ball offer?

Assuming you want to keep this guy you traded for and play him, you can...
1. Try to juggle some of your players around by sending 1-2 down to your AHL team and calling up players from the AHL who have a lesser cap hit. 2. Try to trade someone (use Shop Player) who's making 1.4+ |

I sent a few players down to AHL and juggled it that way. Pretty sure one won't clear waivers, but we'll see. I may have missed it, but why isn't there a summary of the salary/cap implications of trades, I thought I had enough but clearly did some bad maths to get myself into this spot. Some kind of guidance would have been nice. |

That being said, when you're signing free agents and offering contracts, it shows your current salary situation as well as next seasons. It would be nice if that same window was visible in the trade window. |
