Game Crashes 90% of the time?

Was something wrong with the last update? 90% of the time I have the game crash when I use it. At this point, it's not even usable - I take one step forward and then one back. My computer (MAC) is up to date on updates and I am in 2D mode. Anyone find a way around this without having to reinvent the wheel?

been dealing with that as well I also get out of memory issues a lot as well and I know my RAM is not the issue or even hard drive space …. I am beginning to wonder if its because my league file is so big and now causing issues as when I start up a new game it seems to go away. my game has been moved up since 2012 and In season 2099 with current team layout … perhaps your game file is just as big or bigger although I do not know of any tricks... this link might assist you as well on other possible issue. at least worth looking at

Quick way to test is start a new game file and see if it crashes. If it doesn't crash then the problem is in your league and not necessarily the game itself.

that is exactly my case but then how do I correct it ?? I was told at one time it was memory leak but that didn't solve anything but the only logical thing i thought it be was the size of file but i don't know if i am overlooking something or not. At one time i thought it was my laptop and got a new one and it only has one thing on it of which was OOTP at first it seemed to be good and minimal issues but the issues are back again with a vengeance this time. Happens on multiple versions on OOTP in some versions it was worse some better

I could only give suggestions that you would have to test out.

My first thought/suggestion is to first make up a backup copy. Then export your current universe to a template.Start a new game and import that template.

Then do the same things that usually cause a crash and see if it crashes.

Option 2

would be make sure you purge all reports, logs, remove and purge almanac , turn off player cards, make sure you have delete those who didn't reach majors checked and then................................

the most dangerous but sometimes only thing that can save a universe is the PURGE!!!!!!!

under DB options then database tools purge deleted records from database. It might have weird results but also might be the only thing that can save a file.

I read something about that in the link I shared above as that's one thing I have never tried and I am now considering this. One question does that remove any minor league record books basically the purge makes it as if they never existed ??

It's "deleted database records" not in game records "homeruns in a game" for example.

So if you have an OOTP 12 save in OOTP 21 and 70+ years in the future you will have a ton of old deleted database records. Technically they are still in the database just flagged as deleted. So to make the database smaller you must purge them.

Most people never experience this because they might only play 5 to 20 years and not near 100 years.

Now it has to give everything a new unique ID (teams, players etc) since it purged thousands and thousands of records. This is what could cause a universe to get "wonky". Maybe they get different faces or the logos have to get redone. But it could potentially cause something bizarre, technically speaking lol.

But it's the only thing that can be done if the template suggestion didn't work. Its the only thing that makes the database smaller and cleans it up.

I did the purge and it still freezes up and close when I hit buttons or will say out of memory. And took picture of the result of purge ... I truly think its the file as this has occured at least on the last several versions and 4 different laptops even the ootp team tried to help and they said it was a memory leak at the time.

Did you try the export to template then import it when creating a new custom game? That might work

Is this on one save file in particular, or does it happen on any save?

And when is it crashing, do you notice any trends as to what you're doing, the screens you are on etc. just before the crash happens?
