Why can't I get my 1-man rotation start to actually start in simulation module games?

SSIA. I run 1,000 games in the simulation module. I am using Trent Thornton as the starter. a 1-man rotation. I'm controlling all teams. Have fatigue turned all the way down. When I look at the box scores, some other pitcher is listed as starting all 1,000 games, but only pitching a little over an inning per game, while my guy appears in most games, and plays over 5 innings per game - just not starting. What is going on here? Any ideas? Happening for all teams.

Sounds like he's set up in an opener/follower situation.
