Need Help Creating a New Universe
I'm currently running a historical sim that I started in 1981 and am starting the 1990 season very soon. For the start of my 1988 Season, I added some additional leagues. I added the Japanese, Korean & Mexican leagues and I created a small New England based Indy league and a big California based Indy league.
I don't allow direct trades between the MLB and any of the other leagues, but I do allow MLB Teams to purchase players from any of the leagues for very large sums of money based on the quality of the leagues. Also, MLB teams are able to negotiate with Free Agents from any of those leagues. All leagues except for MLB can also us There was a whole lot of 4 & 5-star players created for the Nippon League and as expected, MLB teams wanted those players. And I started worrying that every team was going to have 2 or 3 stud players from Japan. On that note, is there a way to make sure newly created leagues like Nippon League, for instance, aren't all carrying 3, 4, or 5 stud players? Some of those Nippon League teams had rosters with better rated players overall, than many MLB teams? NEW UNIVERSE PLANS I'm already planning my next saved game - it's looking like I'll be controlling the 1995 New York Yankees...maybe 1994. I want to have a crack at the Core Four years. Could someone give me advice on how they would set up their Universe with the MLB/Farm Clubs, Japan, Korean & Mexican leagues along with either one huge league comprised of Fictional American Indy Teams - probably 40 teams in total. Or, it'd be two individual leagues, each with 20 or more Indy Teams. It sucks that we can only create Leagues with a total of 2 Sub-Leagues. What I really wished I could do was make one big Indy League umbrella with 3-4 different Leagues underneath that main Indy League Banner. That way all of those teams could behave like their in their own MLB-style leagues with lots of trades and whatnot going on between the teams. I'd love to see my big American Indy Teams League Project eventually lose players to the MLB if they've developed to a point where some MLB team(s) want players from it. Should I affiliate the Indy League with the MLB? It sounds stupid to Affiliate an "Independent" league to MLB... Or should I make the Indy league a feeder league to MLB? As you can see, this stuff is way over my head. HELP!!! ![]() ![]()

Not sure if this would help bud, but there is a start-up available that has a massive infrastructure. You could just get it going and then poke around and see which bits are and aren't to your liking and take note of the settings and structure used to achieve the bits you want to use in yours.

Hey ALB did you follow through with this and, if so, how has it gone so far?

![]() Whatever I do decide - whether it's a real MLB league with only other real leagues, or with a fictional league or two, or a completely fictional universe, I want to feel good about the framework so I don't have to make drastic changes. One thing that I think that I'd like about going entirely fictional is creating a lot of equality so players often jump from one league to another. I'm surprised how well it's working out so far in my current league and I wasn't even really trying to make it that way. The other day, I was peeking through the 2nd lowest level in my current Universe. It's a 16 team fictional league that I've called the Association of Independent Baseball: California. The idea was to make other states part of the AIB, but I never did. Anyway, I'm peeking through the league stats and whatnot and who catches my eye? Rob Dibble. It's 1991 and Rob Dibble is pitching for the Riverside Kingsmen on a 1 year deal earning $30,600!! IRL, Rob Dibble was Co-MVP of the 1990 NLCS and a major part of the 1990 World Series champion Cincinnati Reds organization. He was one of the Nasty Boys for God's sake!! He played in the MLB for 6 seasons. Not in this Universe he didn't. In fact, he never made the big show after being drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 1982. Who knows when I'll actually pull the trigger? It takes me forever to make decisions like this. ![]()

Re the universe, it's probably a good thing you are holding off because I don't think the one in that link I sent you has a 21 version yet (presuming you are using 21?), although it is apparently being worked on. I'd love to do it and will probably DL the start-up if it becomes 21-ready just to marvel at it and perhaps pick up some pointers. But with my fictional universe and the Footnote League I'm kind of full up already. |
